At the 2006 <strong>FISITA</strong> Congress in Yokohama, special sessions concentrated<br />
for the first time on Vehicle Safety Communications. During the <strong>2008</strong><br />
<strong>FISITA</strong> Congress, progress on this important subject will be presented in<br />
a special session on the afternoon of Tuesday 16 September. The session<br />
will be jointly organised by PIARC and <strong>FISITA</strong> as part of a Memorandum of<br />
Understanding between the two associations. It will focus on the need for<br />
more active co-operation between the world’s automotive engineers (represented<br />
by <strong>FISITA</strong>) and the public sector road / transportation infrastructure<br />
builders and operators (represented by PIARC) with support from the global<br />
Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) community.<br />
