Venue<br />

The <strong>FISITA</strong> <strong>2008</strong> World Automotive Congress will take<br />

place at the ICM (International Congress Center Munich).<br />

yourself waiting time when the conference begins by picking up<br />

your conference documents on Sunday, 14 September between<br />

17:00 and 21:00 h at the Pre-Check-Inn during the Welcome<br />

Reception.<br />

Transport to the ICM<br />

By public transport from the City Centre: The ICM is<br />

about 20 minutes from the city centre by underground. The<br />

U2 subway line runs at 10-minute intervals from 05:30 to<br />

24:00. It goes straight to the ICM/New Munich Trade Fair<br />

Centre (“Messestadt West” station).<br />

By public transport from the airport: At Munich Airport,<br />

the station for urban railway lines S1 and S8 is directly below<br />

the Central Area. Trains in the direction of the City Centre run<br />

at 10-minute intervals.<br />

There are three routes from the airport to the ICM:<br />

• S8 / U5 / U2: S8 from the airport to Ostbahnhof. Change<br />

to underground U5 (in the direction of Neuperlach Süd) to<br />

Innsbrucker Ring (next station). Change to U2 to the trade<br />

fair grounds - Messestadt West. Journey time: approx.<br />

45 minutes.<br />

• Route S8 / U2: S8 from the airport to Munich Central<br />

Station (Hauptbahnhof). Change to underground U2 which<br />

takes you directly to the trade fair grounds - Messestadt<br />

West. Journey time: approx. 60 minutes.<br />

• Route S1 / U2: S1 from the airport to Feldmoching<br />

station or Munich Central Station (Hauptbahnhof). Change<br />

to underground U2 which takes you directly to the trade fair<br />

grounds - Messestadt West. Journey time: approx.<br />

65 minutes.<br />

By taxi from the airport: Immediately in front of the terminal<br />

buildings there are taxi stands. The one-way trip takes approximately<br />

35 minutes, depending on traffic. Munich International<br />

Trade Fairs and the Munich Taxi-Owners’ Association have<br />

agreed to a fixed rate of 51 EUR regardless of the time of year.<br />

This offer applies only to the most direct route between the<br />

airport and the trade-fair centre.<br />

By car: The ICM is located directly on the A94 motorway<br />

and can be reached using the “Feldkirchen-West” (Exit No. 6)<br />

or “München-Riem” (Exit No. 5) exits.<br />

Transport in Munich<br />

Munich has an excellent public transport network (MVV). The<br />

system is zone-based and most places are located within the<br />

inner-city white zone, including the congress venue (ICM).<br />

A ticket for public transport for the inner-city white zone in<br />

Munich is included in the delegate registration fee and covers<br />

underground and buses.<br />

Entry into Germany<br />

Any foreign visitor entering Germany must have a valid<br />

passport. For EU-Citizens no visa is required. Visitors from<br />

countries whose citizens require visas should apply to the German<br />

consulate or diplomatic mission in their own country. See<br />

Delegates requiring an official letter of invitation in order to<br />

obtain a visa should contact the congress organisers by email:<br />

Letters of invitation can only be sent after the participation<br />

fee has been paid so please register early and by 11 July at the<br />

latest. Congress fees will be refunded if the delegate is not able<br />

to get the visa.<br />

Language<br />

The official language of the Congress is English.<br />

Climate<br />

The temperature in Munich during September can vary from<br />

8°C to 19°C (46-66 °F) with the possibility of occasional<br />

rain showers.<br />

The organisers are not liable for any changes made to the programme.<br />

Currency<br />

The official German currency is the Euro. Traveller´s Cheques<br />

are accepted by all banks and major hotels in principal cities.<br />

Credit cards are widely accepted at hotels, department stores,<br />

shops and restaurants. Only the Euro is accepted in regular<br />

stores. All convertible foreign currencies are exchangeable at<br />

all major banks. Business hours of most banks are 9 am - 4 pm<br />

(Mon.-Fri.).<br />

Tipping<br />

In Germany prices include service charge. No tip is required<br />

but most customers usually add about 5% or 10%.<br />

Tax<br />

German Value Added Tax is included in all prices. Currently<br />

this tax is levied at 19%.<br />
