<strong>The</strong>ridion, spider venom from <strong>The</strong>ridion curassavicum or the orange<br />

spider is found in the West Indies. This venom can produce throbbing<br />

pains over the left eye which is aggravated in the heat <strong>of</strong> the sun. Noise<br />

aggravates it as well. This pain is associated with vertigo, and <strong>of</strong>ten<br />

times, nausea. It is worsened by closing the eyes, motion or jarring, or<br />

walking across the floor. <strong>The</strong>re is extreme sensitivity to noise. This<br />

venom is very good for conditions <strong>of</strong> cardiac anxiety.<br />

<strong>The</strong> cross spider, known as Aranea diadema, is a large black spider <strong>of</strong><br />

the central United States. Two particular symptoms directing one to<br />

aranea are numbness <strong>of</strong> the parts <strong>of</strong> the body supplied by the ulnar<br />

nerve, and boring, digging pain in the oscalcis.<br />

Black widow venom gives dramatic help for many neurological<br />

conditions, especially peripheral neuropathy.<br />

Scorpion venoms are powerful in homeopathy. <strong>The</strong>y usually cause<br />

paralysis, pains and weakness, and can be used to reverse some <strong>of</strong> those<br />

same conditions.<br />

Even the venom from the ant can have homeopathic effects. Ant venom<br />

is very rich in formic acid, and this causes inflammation and irritation;<br />

thus, ant venom can help reverse such conditions.<br />

<strong>The</strong> venom <strong>of</strong> the honey bee, Apis mellifica, is highly important in<br />

homeopathy as it produces certain types <strong>of</strong> conditions. <strong>The</strong> characteristic<br />

symptoms <strong>of</strong> Apis are: 1) drowsiness, 2) edema, 3) thirst, 4) intolerance <strong>of</strong><br />

heat, 5) stinging pains, 6) aggravation in the afternoon (between 4:00 and<br />

6:00) and 7) bruised sensations. Meningitis can <strong>of</strong>ten be treated with<br />

Apis. Oftentimes the patient is fidgety, awkward, clumsy, and silly;<br />

laughs, drops things, and is <strong>of</strong>ten very jealous.<br />

Wasp venom can have very powerful implications in homeopathy, as<br />

can the Spanish fly or cantharis.<br />

With this brief review <strong>of</strong> venoms that nature <strong>of</strong>fers, some intriguing<br />

protein compounds can be utilized. Many <strong>of</strong> these venoms follow the<br />

Arndt-Schultz principle and have reverse action in small, dilute<br />
