Cessle Interviews Eskuche & Nu Sky Along with our beloved vodka, Russia has been the bearer of many great musicians introducing to the world Igor Stravinsky, Nina Kraviz and New York based duo Eskuche & Nu Sky look set to join the ranks. Since the release of their Mothership EP on Nervous records in 2012, Eskuche & Nu Sky have accumulated an astonishing amount of releases on numerous labels including Natural Rhythm, Equilibrium Lab, Viva Music and now Hot Creations proving that hard work really does pay off. Prior to their Acid Jump EP on Hot Creations, Audiation magazine managed to catch up with Eskuche & Nu Sky as they journey continue on their road to success. EP: Acid Jump Label: Hot Creations How did you boys get into producing music? Eskuche: It was a long time ago. We produced Tech House and Techno once we got to New York. For me its started many years ago as a hobby in my hometown, i try to make some beats and played music for a friends. But when i moved to NYC I went to a crazy rave party here and after it i went out and realized that this is music i wanna make, caught my vibe, you know. Nu Sky: We started at different times. I started to produce music about 15 years ago,I produced Underground music, progressive house and after I became an EDM DJ/Producer. It was enough for me and after i came to the US, met with max and we decided to do a collaboration as we felt we were on the same wave. EK: Actually i moved to New York like 5 years ago and got on the DJ and producing stuff, then like 6-8 Months later Michael hit me up. I knew him from Russia but we didn’t like vibes or chill out a lot together. We just met sometimes NS: We just met up to smoke lol. 18 www.AudiationMagazine.com
EK: He hit me up, said right now you’re into music in stuff, I said yeah so i sent him a few of my tracks, he said wow their really cool, you know. Then he came for one week here to NY, I remember we sat down in my studio and it was the 1st of our tracks. We started a track called “Mothership” which was released on Nervous Records. We went to a Marco Carola party together here, Michael was very excited about that you know and after maybe a year he moved to NY. NS: I came back to the underground scene for like the 2nd time you know. After rooming with Max and going to Marco Carola party, I was very impressed and inspired. We started to produce our 1st track Mothership, that was released on Nervous records then we decided to do serious things. After your 1st release I understand that you started releasing on a whole load of labels, you lot have a catalogue of releases, you’ve just been smashing them out. power, our two minds in one, you know, NU: In the same direction EK: We decided to work more on collaboration tracks rather than our own music this year. This year its bought a lot of good you know, a lot good things have happened. A lot of good tracks done, Hot Creations stuff finally, some big things have started to happen. Who else have you got planned to release on Gradus Records? EK: We have some artist in mind. Some artist from `New York and some from actually the UK scene. We don’t want to share names right now but some big things coming to Gradus soon. We will keep the label strictly vinyl. EK: We produced together and released some, then we started working on our own productions. For starters I made my tracks, he made his tracks, and we made some different stuff, releasing here n there. Then the start of this year we decided to create this label GRADUS Records, we decided to put all our like 19
