sweden’s international competitiveness
depends on our ability to adapt in a globalised
world. For a number of years IVA has been running
projects to examine Swedish strengths and
weaknesses, and to propose measures to meet
globalisation’s threats and opportunities. In analysis
and conclusions from these bridge-building
meetings between the business world, academia
and the political sphere, IVA can also contribute
valuable insight.
During the year IVA has held seminars on the
theme of globalisation and international competitiveness.
Topics addressed include the effects
of globalisation, the ability of the Swedish manufacturing
industry to compete and the need for
venture capital and entrepreneurship to help
biotech companies grow. Under the heading “The
Financial Crisis – How is Swedish business and
industry affected?” IVA took the opportunity to
look at the financial crisis from an angle that
highlights the opportunities the crisis brings.
Themes for analysis and discussion within IVA’s
project activities included Swedish management,
emergency management and quality issues.
International outlook and perspectives have also
provided material for further analysis. In cooperation
with foreign members, through delegation
trips and other forms of exchange, IVA can
provide valuable input.
