growth in remote markets, such as kazakhstan,
is one of Teliasonera’s best opportunities for
growth, according to ceo lars nyberg at
the breakfast meeting on 22 february. Another
area of expansion could be wireless internet,
which has grown fast since prices have become
more attractive. According to lars nyberg,
Teliasonera needs to develop its business model;
in addition to being a network operator, the
company also wants to package content.
on 31 march christina salomonson took
up the post as head of the new national crisis
management centre within the government
offices. At the breakfast meeting on 28 march,
she talked about her work developing routines
for this centre. The meeting was also attended
by the head of the swedish emergency management
Agency, helena lindberg, and erik
lautmann, ceo of jetpak group, who is
working with ivA’s emergency management
foresight project. The participants expressed
the importance of coordination between various
public and private players.
minister for the environment andreas carlgren
and björn hägglund, chairman of ivA’s
environmental foresight project, were the key
guests at the breakfast meeting on 16 may.
Björn hägglund argued that sweden is still in
a strong position to take the lead in cleantech
and green projects, but leadership is needed in
industry and from the government and public
organisations. At the meeting Andreas carlgren
emphasised the importance of the government
and industry working together to improve
cleantech exports.

gothenburg in cooperation with ivA west.

Participants included ulrike rahe, professor
of industrial design at chalmers university of
Technology, who described how various factors
have gained significance since industrialism’s
breakthrough. Also at the meeting was aina
nilsson ström, design director at AB volvo
and recipient of ivA’s gold medal in 2002.
At the breakfast meeting on 11 september,
jan johansson, ceo of the paper group
scA, pointed out that research and increased
knowledge are crucial for the continued expansion
of his company. The company is conducting
research to develop new products to increase
market potential and also to learn more about
foreign markets. knowledge about consumers
in regions such as the middle east and south
America is necessary to succeed.
on 8 october the Business executives council
arranged a breakfast meeting at skf in
gothenburg in cooperation with ivA west. The
keynote speaker was tom johnstone. The
meeting addressed, among other things, skf’s
initiatives in the area of sustainable development
and the company’s international distinctions
and certificates in the field.
jan lidén, President of swedbank, predicts
greater use of iT in bank contacts in the future.
online interactive communication will feel like
communicating with a real person. jan lidén
presented his visions of the future bank at the
breakfast meeting on 10 october. Another
trend is that bank customers will be increasingly
international and, accordingly, banks are
making international investments.

opportunities that the recession may present
to a large construction company like jm. johan
skoglund, President & ceo of jm was the
keynote speaker and addressed issues such
as how jm is being affected by the financial
crisis and the recession, jm’s commitment to
the environ ment and homes of the future.
