20 May: concluding conference – mentor4Research<br />

Award presentation to the winner of the <strong>2008</strong> mentor programme, åsa<br />

wheelock, karolinska institute with mentor Bo möllstam, a consultant in<br />

intellectual property rights issues. Presentations by Anders gezelius, national<br />

Project director, mentor4Research and the finalists in the research scholarship<br />

competition, Anna fogdell-hahn, olle ericsson, Patrik ståhl, Pierre flener and<br />

åsa wheelock.<br />

10 June: swedish management – worth investing in?<br />

A national seminar arranged by ivA’s Business executives council, the ivA<br />

project healthy successful companies and vinnova on the swedish model for<br />

leadership skills and organisational governance systems. discussions at the seminar<br />

involved the swedish management culture and whether it is a competitive<br />

factor in increasing productivity. if this is the case, how can the Academy, trade<br />

unions and the business community jointly support the development of ideas?<br />

25 August: Book release – Researchers sound the alarm – flawed view of the<br />

market<br />

in 2006–<strong>2008</strong> 31 prominent marketing experts joined forces to take an overall<br />

look at what is being said in marketing contexts about today’s economy. The<br />

project resulted in a book on the myths and opportunities of market orientation<br />

presenting researchers’ thoughts on a number of myths about customers,<br />

suppliers, industries and competition. The book was presented at a seminar at<br />

ivA.<br />

2 September: lifestyle in the west a good example<br />

The biggest health and fitness initiative so far in sweden is called lifestyle in<br />

the west. The purpose of the seminar arranged by healthy successful companies<br />

(3f) was to inspire more companies and local authorities to launch similar<br />

”our natural environment in transition” was the title of a series of four<br />

seminars at the Royal Palace involving ten royal academies including ivA. The<br />

seminars will be broadcast on channel svT24.<br />

20 November financial crisis – how is it affecting swedish business?<br />

The opportunities presented by the financial crisis and how swedish business<br />

can use them were discussed at a seminar arranged by ivA’s div. vi and div.<br />
