And how can the business community and society work together for emergency preparedness? These were some of the questions to which ivA’s emergency management foresight project wanted answers at the concluding conference. As part of ivA’s and vinnova’s joint research policy initiative, a seminar was held on 2 April at which representatives from five nordic countries gathered to discuss and share their experiences in research and innovation policy in their own countries. Participants: harry frank, member of ivA’s div. ii, nippe hylander, åf, olle hådell, national Road Administration, Alarik sandrup, lRf and johan Rockström, stockholm environment institute, kenth johansson, gm Powertrain. 10 April: internet foresight – making sweden a leading internet nation The concluding conference for internet foresight, the project run by ivA in 2007/2008 and central internet players to identify important future issues and develop proposals for solutions so that sweden can be a prominent internet nation in 2015. The project involved three expert panels and the conclusions of the panels and steering committees were presented at the seminar. intelligence today. The seminar looked back at the past year and into the future. Participants included professors Patrick doherty, carl gustaf jansson and erik sandewall, and from the business community, marcus Bjäreland, Astrazeneca, nicklas lundblad, google, lars mollberg, ericsson and Bengt österlund, consultant, ge healthcare. 20 May: concluding conference – mentor4Research Award presentation to the winner of the 2008 mentor programme, åsa wheelock, karolinska institute with mentor Bo möllstam, a consultant in intellectual property rights issues. A national seminar arranged by ivA’s Business executives council, the ivA project healthy successful companies and vinnova on the swedish model for leadership skills and organisational governance systems. discussions at the seminar involved the swedish management culture and whether it is a competitive factor in increasing productivity. if this is the case, how can the Academy, trade unions and the business community jointly support the development of ideas? The project resulted in a book on the myths and opportunities of market orientation presenting researchers’ thoughts on a number of myths about customers, suppliers, industries and competition. The book was presented at a seminar at ivA. 2 September: lifestyle in the west a good example The biggest health and fitness initiative so far in sweden is called lifestyle in the west. The purpose of the seminar arranged by healthy successful companies (3f) was to inspire more companies and local authorities to launch similar initiatives. The seminars will be broadcast on channel svT24. 20 November financial crisis – how is it affecting swedish business? The opportunities presented by the financial crisis and how swedish business can use them were discussed at a seminar arranged by ivA’s div. vi and div. ix.
