ABCD Transport Connections Pilot Project Department of Human Services Transport Connections Program Government July 2006 Name of Initiative Description of initiative Target Group Information provided to bus service planning process – Maldon and Baringhup residents Non-urgent medical transport in Bendigo corridor As part of the Bendigo transport review a number of towns were not recognised as outlying towns for the purpose of the review. This initiative advocated on behalf of Maldon and Baringhup. Local agencies were cautiously interested in sharing resources to assist in getting people to Melbourne (and Kyneton) for medical appointments. This initiative aimed to involve departments who funded community/health transport to: - collect data on the journeys they fund Maldon and Baringhup residents; and DOI. Local Health service agencies; and DOI. - work out if the data is useful for planning. Hume Links Transport Drafting transport strategies for Macedon Ranges and Mount Alexander Shire Councils Planning for Harcourt, Taradale and Elphinstone bus service (RS) Information provision on existing services to Lancefield and Romsey residents ConnectaBus pilot (CT) Hume Community Transport Group The purpose of this initiative is to develop transport strategies for the Macedon Ranges and Mt Alexander Shires. Funding for bus service linking Taradale, Elphinstone and Harcourt has been approved. This initiative sets out to find the best service for these towns. The aim of this initiative is to provide information to residents on local bus services, putting in bus stops, designing and distributing timetables and timetable holders. The ConnectaBus service operates across Roxburgh Park and Craigieburn. It is a door-to-door flexi route community bus service, utilising a twelveseater mini-bus. Hume Community Transport Group is a bi-monthly meeting of community transport providers in the city of Hume that aims to improve communication and coordination between community transport providers. Residents of Macedon and Mt Alexander shires. Residents of Harcourt, Taradale and Elphinstone. Romsey and Lancefield residents. Residents of Craigieburn and Roxburgh Park. ABCD Transport Connections Pilot Project Valley to City Efficiently Let’s Get Connected Department of Human Services Transport Connections Program Government July 2006 Name of Initiative Description of initiative Target Group Integrated Transport Information for Craigieburn and Roxburgh Park Northern Hume Transport Forums Hume Bus Availability Directory ConnectaBus/Public Transport Survey Integration model (RS) North East Regional transport forum Joint initiatives TAFE & Post-school student travel on school buses trial (SB) An initiative that aims to provide transport materials towards specific groups within the community, including information on taxis, community transport. The aim of this initiative is to provide an opportunity for northern City of Hume residents to have input into the strategic planning for transport in the area. There will be four forums held across this year – the first being 12 th July. A directory was collated that defines the buses that are owned and operated by commercial and not-forprofit sectors within the City of Hume. A survey was undertaken in March/April 2006 to generate information about the barriers that exist for local transport disadvantage residents in Craigieburn and Roxburgh Park. The new service is an integration of the Community Health Transport Program and the private route service, known as the Wednesday Shopping bus. This forum is an attempt to provide a strategic and sustainable approach to resolving transport related issues in the Upper North East. This includes mapping services, reducing duplication and demystifying transport regulations and legislation. There have been six forums to date. A joint initiative developed by Let’s GET Connected, Gippsland East Local Learning and Employment Network (GELLEN) and Gippsland Department of Education and Training to set up and trial access for post school students in Gippsland East on public school buses. Senior members in the community; and Young people in the community. Young People; People with disabilities; Senior members; and Families. Community members and organisations within the City of Hume. Residents of Craigieburn and Roxburgh Park. Residents of Mt Beauty. Local Government Authorities; DHS, DOI and DVC; Rural Access Private transport operators; Community Health providers; Community Transport; and NELLEN.
