A paper was prepared to highlight issues and potential solutions to opening up spare capacity on school buses. This is a second proposal to restructure the existing V/Line coach services to operate more frequently including on the weekends. An update to the initial transport brochure for Bass Coast originally published in 2004. This initiative surveyed residents in Yarriambiack and Buloke Shires to establish the need for transport between Woomelang and Swan Hill. Pilot service – Woomelang to Swan Hill A new service is being planned between Woomelang and Swan Hill. It is anticipated the service will operate once a week. Brokerage funding – transporting students to VET classes and Longerenong College (CT) Car pooling initiative (CT) (2004-05 and 2005-06) Transport needs survey for communities between Donald and Horsham – in conjunction with Southern Mallee TCP Wimmera TCP provided $10 000 to Wimmera Southern Mallee LLEN to assist in financing the buses that transport young people from around the region to VET classes in Horsham. This initiative attempted to maximise the use of existing transport resources, and provide a method to link people into the community and associated networks. This initiative surveyed the communities between Donald and Horsham to establish the need for a regular transport service between these towns. This survey aimed to understand the activity and transport requirements of young people in West Wimmera Shire. Roots Projects were engaged by the Hindmarsh Shire to develop a “Positive Ageing Strategy”. Wimmera TCP provided information and assistance in bringing together this strategy. This initiative aims to increase capacity in communities by providing participants with the skills required to utilise existing transport infrastructure, such as buses. The Golden Connection Community Transport Initiative seeks to improve access to transport options, increase transport opportunities, reinforce and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders, and plan, manager and coordinate a viable and effective community transport service. The Golden Connections project provided volunteer drivers and vehicles for transporting young people in Golden Plains Shire to activities within the Shire and planning forums in Geelong. The aim of this initiative is to allow the young people of Caringham Linton Football Netball Club and Rokewood Corindhap Football Netball Club to attend games and functions within the Lexton Plains Football League catchment. An agreement has been struck where by the Caringham Linton Football Netball Club representatives clean one of the vehicles on a regular basis to keep costs to a minimum for the young people.
