Staff, patients and the Trust are delighted with the new
surroundings and Manchester City Council have awarded the
scheme a “Build in Quality” Award.
Multi-storey Car Park
Following detailed evaluation, the Trust awarded the contract to
construct the new car park to Messrs Wates Construction Ltd.
Work commenced on site on 8th February and the expected date
of completion is 21st December 2001.
This new car park will provide 706 spaces of which 35 have been
designated disabled parking. The ground floor elevation to
Oxford Road provides retail accommodation, thus attracting
income generation to the Trust.
Laboratories Development
Cytology Screening Services from Christies and also the Public
Health Laboratory Service from Withington Hospital.
Following Regional Office approval the Trust undertook a
tendering exercise. Work has now started with a completion date
of August 2002.
PFI Enabling Schemes
The scope of the enabling scheme is currently being finalised and
a business case has been submitted to the Regional Office.
A large element of this work will involve the re-use of Sparshott
House, on a temporary basis, for the provision of Estates
workshops and displaced office accommodation from Lorne
Street and the Facilities building.
The new building provides accommodation on four levels to
house the existing Automation Laboratory, the transferred
New Acute Medical Centre
