Chapter 23. EXPORTThe EXPORT command either exports a cluster or an alternate index or creates abackup copy of a catalog. An empty candidate volume cannot be exported. Accessmethod services acknowledges and preserves the SMS classes during EXPORT.Access method services does not use RLS. If an RLS keyword is specified on theDD statement of a file to be opened by AMS, the keyword will be ignored and thefile will be opened and accessed in non-RLS mode.The syntax of the EXPORT command is:EXPORTentryname{OUTFILE(ddname)|OUTDATASET(entryname)}[CIMODE|RECORDMODE][ERASE|NOERASE][INFILE(ddname)][INHIBITSOURCE|NOINHIBITSOURCE][INHIBITTARGET|NOINHIBITTARGET][PURGE|NOPURGE][TEMPORARY|PERMANENT]EXPORT ParametersEXPORT can be abbreviated: EXPRestrictions: You can export a KSDS with extended addressability to a system thatdoes not support extended addressability if the data set is smaller than 4GB. If it islarger, the EXPORT and IMPORT commands appear to complete successfully, butwhen the data set tries to extend beyond 4GB, a message is issued. You can useREPRO—specifically FROMKEY and TOKEY, or COUNT parameters—to reducethe data set to less than 4GB before using IMPORT. Thisparameter must be the first parameter following EXPORT. If entryname specifiesan SMS-managed data set, the OUTDATASET must either be an SMS-manageddata set, or a non-SMS-managed data set cataloged in the catalog determinedby the catalog search order (see “Order of Catalog Use” on page 9).OUTFILE(ddname)|OUTDATASET(entryname)Specifies the name of the DD statement or the data set that is to receive thedata being exported.Portable data sets loaded by EXPORT must be sequential data sets.
