INTRODUCTION<br />
The World Health Organizati<strong>on</strong> assists countries in the planning and implementati<strong>on</strong><br />
of comprehensive HIV preventi<strong>on</strong> and care.<br />
The c<strong>on</strong>tinuum of care comp<strong>on</strong>ent includes a referral network extending from<br />
home and community care settings, through peripheral health units, to district<br />
hospitals. Comprehensive care comprises a proper balance between clinical<br />
management, counselling, nursing care and social support. It requires well-informed<br />
health care staff, with good communicati<strong>on</strong> skills, adequate skills in the recogniti<strong>on</strong>,<br />
diagnosis and management of HIV-related c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s, working closely with families.<br />
These <str<strong>on</strong>g>Fact</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Sheets</str<strong>on</strong>g> form part of a set of materials available to physicians dealing<br />
with HIV-infected patients, who have the opportunity to prescribe antiretroviral drugs.<br />
Target Audience<br />
These <str<strong>on</strong>g>Fact</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Sheets</str<strong>on</strong>g> and accompanying notes are designed to be employed in the daily<br />
activities of physicians resp<strong>on</strong>sible for the management of HIV-infected patients at any<br />
level.<br />

Sheet for each drug includes informati<strong>on</strong> about the class of the drug, available<br />
formulati<strong>on</strong>s, storage, dosage, known interacti<strong>on</strong>s with other drugs (including other<br />
antiretrovirals) and main side effects.<br />
All the provided informati<strong>on</strong> comes from labelling informati<strong>on</strong>, data published in<br />
WHO documents, internati<strong>on</strong>al scientific literature, books, reports presented at<br />
