About this ManualThis manual is intended for use by service techniciansresponsible for installing and servicing the <strong>IQ</strong> plus ®<strong>800</strong>/<strong>810</strong> digital weight indicators. This manual appliesto Version 3.1 software for the <strong>IQ</strong> plus <strong>800</strong>/<strong>810</strong>indicators. See Section 10.6 on page 90 for a summaryof software changes included in Version 3.1.This manual is organized so that you can learn aboutthe basic installation and standard operations first,then find more detailed information about specificoptional features in later sections.The configuration menu charts include parameterchoices for both the standard and optional features.When configuring the <strong>IQ</strong> plus <strong>800</strong> or <strong>810</strong>, you canignore the settings for parameters dealing with optionsnot installed on your indicator; settings chosen fornon-installed options are ignored.WarningMost procedures described in thismanual require work inside the indicatorenclosure. These procedures are to beperformed by qualified servicepersonnel only.Authorized distributors and theiremployees can view or download thismanual from the <strong>Rice</strong> <strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Weighing</strong><strong>Systems</strong> distributor site at www.rlws.com.WarningIf you are upgrading to Version 3.1 or arefamiliar with prior releases of the <strong>IQ</strong> plus<strong>800</strong>/<strong>810</strong> software, please note thefollowing changes before using thesoftware:The digital output of continuous setpoints using theTRIP parameter with INBAND or OUTBAND specifiedis reversed in this release. Existing setpoints usingthese values must be redefined for use with Version3.1.When the indicator is placed in setup mode:•Analog outputs are set off (0 VDC or 0 mA)•Batching stops automaticallyWhen the indicator is returned to operating mode, theinterrupted batch must be manually restarted.The BATSTRT digital input no longer requires anactive BATRUN digital input to start and run abatch sequence. If no digital input is assigned toBATRUN, batching proceeds as if BATRUN werealways on. See Section 3.2.7 on page 34 formore information.1.0 IntroductionFor basic weighing applications, the <strong>IQ</strong> plus <strong>800</strong> and<strong>IQ</strong> plus <strong>810</strong> have more useful standard features thanany other digital indicator currently available. Formore complex weighing applications, the <strong>IQ</strong> plus <strong>800</strong>/<strong>810</strong> series indicators are expandable, programmable,process controllers with an impressive array ofoptions.The economical <strong>IQ</strong> plus <strong>800</strong> indicator is available in acompact stainless steel enclosure. It carries all thefeatures of the standard <strong>IQ</strong> plus <strong>800</strong>/<strong>810</strong> indicators,but its compact enclosure size will not accept all theexpansion options of the larger <strong>810</strong> enclosures.The <strong>IQ</strong> plus <strong>810</strong> is available in desktop, stainless steelbatching (SS), and hostile environment batching (HE)models. The <strong>800</strong> and all <strong>810</strong> models areNTEP-certified for Class III and Class IIIL at 10,000divisions. The <strong>800</strong> stainless steel, <strong>810</strong> SS and HEmodels are certified for NEMA 4X washdownapplications.Introduction 1
