The festival is sponsored by the Town of Montverde, and isattended by several thousand area residents and visitors. The festival is anopportunity for local arts and craftsmen to display their wares, and there areantique car displays, entertainment by folk musicians, and flea marketbooths.A Montverde Day favorite of thechildren is a ride on Montverde’sfire truck.94
SECTION 8- RESOURCE SPECIFIC CRITERIARECREATIONAL RESOURCESTHE GREEN MOUNTAIN SCENIC BYWAYSECTION 8- RESOURCE SPECIFIC CRITERIARecreational ResourcesThe Green Mountain Scenic Byway is unique in that the roadway itself is apopular recreational resource. The Byway is one the most heavily usedroutes in Florida for bicyclists and motorcyclists, as well as car clubs andSunday drivers.The roadway is the route for several large, internationally recognizedtriathlons, and the corridor is used on a regular basis for both competitivecycling training and touring cycling. USA Triathlon, the Olympic governingbody for triathlon in the United States, recently located their NationalTraining Center in nearby Clermont. The planned South Lake Trail willconnect the Training Center to the West Orange Trail and the Scenic Byway.It is a goal of the CAG to make improvements to the roadway that will keepthe Byway an international destination for touring and competitive cyclists.
