UNIVERSITY SYSTEM OF NEW HAMPSHIREDESCRIPTIONS OF TRUE ENDOWMENT FUNDSFOR THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2011CLASS OF 1933 HONORS [1TA010]The Class of 1933 Endowment for Honors is to provide a permanent source of funding for tuition scholarship awards for NH resident students participatingin the Honors Program. Awards will be made annually and shall be based on academic performance. This fund will be administered by the Director of theHonors Program. The Class of 1933 also instructs the University to transfer from the New Century Memorial Fund to the Class of 1933 Endowment forHonors, the sum of $3,000 annually plus all interest generated by the fund during that year. In June 2001, the New Century Memorial Fund is to be closedout and any remaining funds, including interest earnings, are to be transferred to the Class of 1933 Endowment for Honors. Established 1987CLASS OF 1937 PROFESSORSHIP [1TR004]Established to reward achievement in teaching and research in the field of fresh water and marine biology. Awards used to offset expenses of Center forMarine Biology at the discretion of the department director. Established 1990CLASS OF 1938 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP [1TA100]Gift of the Class of 1938 on the occasion of their 25th reunion. Established 1963CLASS OF 1944 ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP [1TA174]Established with a gift from the Class of 1944 on the occasion of their 50th reunion. The purpose of this fund is to provide financial assistance toundergraduate students who are full-time matriculants at UNH. Awards from the fund will be based on financial need. The recipients of the 1944 EndowedScholarship Fund will be made aware of their source of aid by the stewardship officer at UNH Foundation who will also furnish brief biographicalinformation to the President of the Class of 1944. The fund will be administered by the Office of Financial Aid and all awards will be made in keeping withthe financial aid policies and practices of the University. All current and subsequent gifts made to this fund will be deposited within the endowment ofUNH. Established 1995CLASS OF 1948 TRUST FUND [1TA101]Established by the Class of 1948 on its 25th reunion to provide income to be used for worthy purposes at and for UNH in Durham. Utilization of incomeearned by this fund will be determined by the UNH Fund Gift Allocation Committee (the Committee that allocates undesignated UNH Fund Gifts tospecific purposes). Income may be allocated for scholarships for deserving and needy students or for any other purposes considered vital to the interest ofthe University at Durham, the success of its programs, or the improvement of its campus. The purpose for which this Trust Fund is used by the Universitymay be reviewed by the members of the class at subsequent major class reunions. Established 1973CLASS OF 1954 ENDOWMENT FUND [1TA011]Gifts of the Class of 1954 with income to be used to bring to the campus visiting professors, lecturers and distinguished guests for the purpose of enhancingthe total academic program of the University. Established 1980CLASS OF 36 ENDOWMENT FUND [1TG012]Gift of the Class of 1936 in honor of its 50th reunion. The purpose of this fund is to provide support for cultural programs that come to the attention of theUniversity President for which no funding, public or private, is available. Preference shall be given to the performing arts, including student productions.Appropriate recognition shall be given to the Class of 1936 for all fund uses. Established 1992CLASS OF 38 PROFESSORSHIP ENDOWMENT [1TA168]This fund was established to honor a worthy professor approximately $5000 a year to use accordingly. This is to recognize excellence in teaching.Established 1995CLASS OF 40 PROFESSORSHIP [1TA172]Established with gifts from friends and members in honor of the Class’s 50th reunion. The annual interest will be used to create a select faculty position tobe named the Class of 1940 Professorship. The principal of the fund shall not be used. The income would be used to supplement a budgeted position tomake the position both attractive in salary and in recognition and to allow the University to compete for the best of academic talent in the hiring of newfaculty or recognizing outstanding existing faculty. Established 1994CLASS OF 41 EDUCATIONAL ENDOWMENT [1TA169]Established with a gift from the Class of 1941 on the occasion of their 50th reunion. Income awarded at the discretion of the President to be used to enhancethe compensation of members of faculty. No recipient shall be eligible for more than two years. Established 1992CLASS OF 44 PROFESSORSHIP FUND [1TA173]The purpose of this fund is to provide support and recognition to a member of the faculty of UNH. The award includes a discretionary allowance, based onthe income available, for use by the recipient. It can also be used to attract an outstanding new faculty member or to retain and recognize a faculty membercurrently tenured or tenure-track. The President of UNH or his/her designee will select the recipient and administer the award. The length of this awardperiod is three years and the award will rotate among the University’s colleges, schools and disciplines. The rotation is important as a way to represent thevaried interest of the many contributors from the Class of 1944. Established 1995CLASS OF 51 ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP [1TA165]This scholarship fund was established by the Class of 1951 with a gift from its 40 th Reunion Fund. The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarshipassistance to undergraduate students, based on academic achievement, financial need, character and service. Income only to be used. Established 1992CLASS OF 64 ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT [1TA171]Established with gifts from friends and members in honor of the Class’s 25th reunion. Financial need is not a consideration. Income only to be used. Established 1979COE-HALL FUND [1TG001]Established through the generous gift of Jane Coe Hall, Class of 1939 and Fred W. Hall, Jr., Class of 1941 in honor of their 50th class reunion. The purposeof this fund is to provide financial support for beautification of UNH at Durham. Specifically, to purchase trees, shrubs, plant materials, benches and otherlandscaping that will directly serve to further enhance the quality and beauty of the campus. John Conant, of Jaffrey, NH, the income is to provide scholarships to young men taking agricultural courses, preference being given toresidents of Cheshire County. Established 1987CONSOLIDATED LIBRARY FUND [1TL004]The Durham Library Association was dissolved and transferred its assets to the University, income from the funds to be used for the purchase of books forthe benefit of citizens of Durham and students at the University. ROLLINS MEMORIAL FUND [1TB022]Income only to be used by UNH Department of Microbiology to bring at least one visiting lecturer to campus per academic year. Established 1985CONSTANTINE A. PETMEZAS SCHOLARSHIP FUND [1TA048]Bequest of Constantine A. Petmezas to provide a scholarship to a deserving and qualified Greek student to pursue graduate studies at UNH. The awardshall be made for a maximum of three years to a single candidate and shall be based on the student's academic competence and demonstrated financial need.Established 1966CORINNE H. COBURN FUND [1TA105]Bequest of Corinne H. Coburn, of Exeter; the income to provide scholarships for worthy students from Exeter. Established 1943CORINNE TRIPETTI ART SCHOLARSHIP [1TA072]Established in memory of Corinne "Bunny" Tripetti, an accomplished painter and artist and promoter of the New Hampshire Art Association. The purposeof this fund is to provide scholarship assistance to fulltime undergraduate art majors in their third or fourth year. The award will be based on demonstratedtalent in the visual arts. Candidates showing financial need will be given preference. Established 1982CRAIG A. WEST MEMORIAL FUND [1TD042]The purpose of the fund is to fund an award to be known as the ‘Craig A. West Memorial Award’ to be given annually to one deserving chemistry graduatestudent enrolled in either the Ph.D. or M.S. program of the Department of Chemistry of UNH. The award recipient is to be chosen by the faculty of theUNH Department of Chemistry on the basis of excellence in teaching and research. Nominations are to be made by members of the faculty of the UNHDepartment of Chemistry. Established 1997CRAIG SCHOLARSHIP FUND [1TS018]Established by Ralph B. Craig Jr. (Tim) in memory of his father. General award is to be used for scholarships to UNH students. Established 1974CREELEY S. BUCHANAN FOOTBALL FUND [1TS017]Established with a gift from Creeley S. "Buck" Buchanan, class of 1940. The purpose of this fund is to recognize a member of the University's Footballteam who has distinguished himself within the University community beyond any accomplishments within the sport itself. Selection of each awardrecipient will be made by the Head Football Coach, in consultation with Creeley S. Buchanan or a member of the Buchanan family. The award itself will bea University chair or another item of comparable value. A cumulative roster of reward recipients will be displayed in the Field House or other appropriatefacility. Costs associated with maintaining and updating the display may be covered with proceeds from the award fund. Established 1991112
