UNIVERSITY SYSTEM OF NEW HAMPSHIREDESCRIPTIONS OF TRUE ENDOWMENT FUNDSFOR THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2011CLASS OF 1933 HONORS [1TA010]The Class <strong>of</strong> 1933 <strong>Endowment</strong> for Honors is to provide a permanent source <strong>of</strong> fund<strong>in</strong>g for tuition scholarship awards for NH resident students participat<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong> the Honors Program. Awards will be made annually <strong>and</strong> shall be based on academic performance. This fund will be adm<strong>in</strong>istered by the Director <strong>of</strong> theHonors Program. The Class <strong>of</strong> 1933 also <strong>in</strong>structs the University to transfer from the New Century Memorial Fund to the Class <strong>of</strong> 1933 <strong>Endowment</strong> forHonors, the sum <strong>of</strong> $3,000 annually plus all <strong>in</strong>terest generated by the fund dur<strong>in</strong>g that year. In June 2001, the New Century Memorial Fund is to be closedout <strong>and</strong> any rema<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g funds, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>terest earn<strong>in</strong>gs, are to be transferred to the Class <strong>of</strong> 1933 <strong>Endowment</strong> for Honors. Established 1987CLASS OF 1937 PROFESSORSHIP [1TR004]Established to reward achievement <strong>in</strong> teach<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> research <strong>in</strong> the field <strong>of</strong> fresh water <strong>and</strong> mar<strong>in</strong>e biology. Awards used to <strong>of</strong>fset expenses <strong>of</strong> Center forMar<strong>in</strong>e Biology at the discretion <strong>of</strong> the department director. Established 1990CLASS OF 1938 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP [1TA100]Gift <strong>of</strong> the Class <strong>of</strong> 1938 on the occasion <strong>of</strong> their 25th reunion. Established 1963CLASS OF 1944 ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP [1TA174]Established with a gift from the Class <strong>of</strong> 1944 on the occasion <strong>of</strong> their 50th reunion. The purpose <strong>of</strong> this fund is to provide f<strong>in</strong>ancial assistance toundergraduate students who are full-time matriculants at UNH. Awards from the fund will be based on f<strong>in</strong>ancial need. The recipients <strong>of</strong> the 1944 EndowedScholarship Fund will be made aware <strong>of</strong> their source <strong>of</strong> aid by the stewardship <strong>of</strong>ficer at UNH Foundation who will also furnish brief biographical<strong>in</strong>formation to the President <strong>of</strong> the Class <strong>of</strong> 1944. The fund will be adm<strong>in</strong>istered by the Office <strong>of</strong> F<strong>in</strong>ancial Aid <strong>and</strong> all awards will be made <strong>in</strong> keep<strong>in</strong>g withthe f<strong>in</strong>ancial aid policies <strong>and</strong> practices <strong>of</strong> the University. All current <strong>and</strong> subsequent gifts made to this fund will be deposited with<strong>in</strong> the endowment <strong>of</strong>UNH. Established 1995CLASS OF 1948 TRUST FUND [1TA101]Established by the Class <strong>of</strong> 1948 on its 25th reunion to provide <strong>in</strong>come to be used for worthy purposes at <strong>and</strong> for UNH <strong>in</strong> Durham. Utilization <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>comeearned by this fund will be determ<strong>in</strong>ed by the UNH Fund Gift Allocation Committee (the Committee that allocates undesignated UNH Fund Gifts tospecific purposes). Income may be allocated for scholarships for deserv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> needy students or for any other purposes considered vital to the <strong>in</strong>terest <strong>of</strong>the University at Durham, the success <strong>of</strong> its programs, or the improvement <strong>of</strong> its campus. The purpose for which this Trust Fund is used by the Universitymay be reviewed by the members <strong>of</strong> the class at subsequent major class reunions. Established 1973CLASS OF 1954 ENDOWMENT FUND [1TA011]Gifts <strong>of</strong> the Class <strong>of</strong> 1954 with <strong>in</strong>come to be used to br<strong>in</strong>g to the campus visit<strong>in</strong>g pr<strong>of</strong>essors, lecturers <strong>and</strong> dist<strong>in</strong>guished guests for the purpose <strong>of</strong> enhanc<strong>in</strong>gthe total academic program <strong>of</strong> the University. Established 1980CLASS OF 36 ENDOWMENT FUND [1TG012]Gift <strong>of</strong> the Class <strong>of</strong> 1936 <strong>in</strong> honor <strong>of</strong> its 50th reunion. The purpose <strong>of</strong> this fund is to provide support for cultural programs that come to the attention <strong>of</strong> theUniversity President for which no fund<strong>in</strong>g, public or private, is available. Preference shall be given to the perform<strong>in</strong>g arts, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g student productions.Appropriate recognition shall be given to the Class <strong>of</strong> 1936 for all fund uses. Established 1992CLASS OF 38 PROFESSORSHIP ENDOWMENT [1TA168]This fund was established to honor a worthy pr<strong>of</strong>essor approximately $5000 a year to use accord<strong>in</strong>gly. This is to recognize excellence <strong>in</strong> teach<strong>in</strong>g.Established 1995CLASS OF 40 PROFESSORSHIP [1TA172]Established with gifts from friends <strong>and</strong> members <strong>in</strong> honor <strong>of</strong> the Class’s 50th reunion. The annual <strong>in</strong>terest will be used to create a select faculty position tobe named the Class <strong>of</strong> 1940 Pr<strong>of</strong>essorship. The pr<strong>in</strong>cipal <strong>of</strong> the fund shall not be used. The <strong>in</strong>come would be used to supplement a budgeted position tomake the position both attractive <strong>in</strong> salary <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong> recognition <strong>and</strong> to allow the University to compete for the best <strong>of</strong> academic talent <strong>in</strong> the hir<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> newfaculty or recogniz<strong>in</strong>g outst<strong>and</strong><strong>in</strong>g exist<strong>in</strong>g faculty. Established 1994CLASS OF 41 EDUCATIONAL ENDOWMENT [1TA169]Established with a gift from the Class <strong>of</strong> 1941 on the occasion <strong>of</strong> their 50th reunion. Income awarded at the discretion <strong>of</strong> the President to be used to enhancethe compensation <strong>of</strong> members <strong>of</strong> faculty. No recipient shall be eligible for more than two years. Established 1992CLASS OF 44 PROFESSORSHIP FUND [1TA173]The purpose <strong>of</strong> this fund is to provide support <strong>and</strong> recognition to a member <strong>of</strong> the faculty <strong>of</strong> UNH. The award <strong>in</strong>cludes a discretionary allowance, based onthe <strong>in</strong>come available, for use by the recipient. It can also be used to attract an outst<strong>and</strong><strong>in</strong>g new faculty member or to reta<strong>in</strong> <strong>and</strong> recognize a faculty membercurrently tenured or tenure-track. The President <strong>of</strong> UNH or his/her designee will select the recipient <strong>and</strong> adm<strong>in</strong>ister the award. The length <strong>of</strong> this awardperiod is three years <strong>and</strong> the award will rotate among the University’s colleges, schools <strong>and</strong> discipl<strong>in</strong>es. The rotation is important as a way to represent thevaried <strong>in</strong>terest <strong>of</strong> the many contributors from the Class <strong>of</strong> 1944. Established 1995CLASS OF 51 ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP [1TA165]This scholarship fund was established by the Class <strong>of</strong> 1951 with a gift from its 40 th Reunion Fund. The purpose <strong>of</strong> this fund is to provide scholarshipassistance to undergraduate students, based on academic achievement, f<strong>in</strong>ancial need, character <strong>and</strong> service. Income only to be used. Established 1992CLASS OF 64 ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT [1TA171]Established with gifts from friends <strong>and</strong> members <strong>in</strong> honor <strong>of</strong> the Class’s 25th reunion. The <strong>in</strong>come only will be used to br<strong>in</strong>g to campus visit<strong>in</strong>g pr<strong>of</strong>essors,lecturers <strong>and</strong> guests for the purpose <strong>of</strong> enhanc<strong>in</strong>g the total academic program <strong>of</strong> UNH.
