Income only to be used to provide annual financial assistance to full time NH resident undergraduate(s).Awards will be based on financial need. The Office of Financial Aid shall be responsible for the selection of scholarship recipients. All awards from thisfund will be made in keeping with the Financial Aid Policy of the University and with specifications outlined in this document. The fund to be administered by a committee of four that shall establish an annual budget for the preceding year's income, of which not morethan 25% shall be for scholarships. Other purposes may include visiting lecturers, support of student independent study, library acquisitions, and othermatters related to the study of Animal Sciences. UNIVERSITY SYSTEM OF NEW HAMPSHIREDESCRIPTIONS OF TRUE ENDOWMENT FUNDSFOR THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2011PAUL J HOLLOWAY ENDOWMENT FUND [1TU009]The purpose is to stimulate, recognize, and reward the entrepreneurial spirit manifested by Mr. Holloway throughout his career. Income from the fund maybe used to provide annual cash prizes to Whittemore School of Business and Economics undergraduate and graduate students/teams who submit the mostfeasible plan for starting, acquiring, or expanding a business venture. Details on the competition, which shall be called the “Paul J Holloway, Jr. Prize”, shallbe determined by the Dean of WSBE, based on a 1988 document outlining guidelines for the prize. If the expendable income from the fund exceeds theamount used for the cash awards in any given year, the funds may be used for other entrepreneurial-related activities as determined by the Dean. The Deanof WSBE, or his/her designee, shall be responsible for administering all awards from this fund. The Men’s Intercollegiate Swimming Program was eliminated as an intercollegiate sport beginning in September2006. Per donor request in the original MOU, in the event the Men’s Intercollegiate Swimming Program is discontinued as a full varsity sport, futureincome shall be used to support the Chemistry Department in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. Established 1992PETER LINO BARILI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP [1TA051]In 1979 the Alumni Brothers of the UNH Chapter of Sigma Beta fraternity established this scholarship in memory of the first Sigma Beta brother to give hislife in Vietnam. The recipient must be an undergraduate member of Sigma Beta fraternity with a cumulative grade-point average of at least 2.0. Eachsemester a chapter committee nominates five brothers, based on outstanding service to the house and selects the recipient in consultation with the FinancialAid Office of UNH. Established 1979PHILIP C. JONES/1913 TRUST [1TS015]Given by his sister, Elizabeth Jones, Class of 1922, the income is to be used annually to assist deserving & needy undergraduate students. Established 1978PHILIP M. MARSTON SCHOLARSHIP [1TA098]Gifts from friends, family and colleagues of Philip M. Marston, teacher at UNH from 1924-1966, Chairman of the History Department from 1944-1962,and University Historian. Established 1973PHILIP R. BURLINGAME SENIOR STUDENT LOAN FUND [1TA090]Bequest of Philip R. Burlingame, Middleton, TN, the income to be set aside to provide loans for senior students in the Department or School of Education.Loans not to exceed $300 each may be made to not more than three men or three women in any one year. Repayment is required to be made within threeyears from the date of graduation, with an interest rate of 3% to perpetuate the fund for other students. Established 1956PHI MU DELTA SCHOLARSHIP FUND [1TA059]Purpose of fund is to provide financial assistance to full time undergraduate students. When the principal amount of the fund reaches $150,000, firstpreference shall be given to blood and adopted sons and daughters of members of Nu Beta Chapter of Phi Mu Delta Fraternity. During any year than aninsufficient number of offspring identify themselves as eligible to use available income, the income shall be used in making annual awards to full-timeundergraduate students enrolled UNH based on academic merit and achievement. The amount of the award shall not exceed the amount charged by UNHfor NH resident tuition. The award is renewable for a maximum period of four years of full-time study. Established 1982PLANT SCIENCE SCHOLARSHIP FUND [1TB023]The purpose is to provide financial assistance to a full-time undergraduate degree candidate in the Dept. of Plant Biology. The primary criterion for makingthis award is academic excellence as demonstrated through outstanding achievement in plant biology. Preference will usually be given to studentsanticipating careers in agronomy horticulture.
