UNIVERSITY SYSTEM OF NEW HAMPSHIREDESCRIPTIONS OF TRUE ENDOWMENT FUNDSFOR THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2011ROBERT J. DOHERTY '86 SCHOLARSHIP [6TC039]Established to honor Robert J. Doherty, Jr., '86 and, in his memory, to provide scholarships to outstanding PSU students. The recipient shall havesuccessfully completed his/her freshman year, and must be a resident of Rochester, NH. If there is no qualified student from Rochester the limitation willbe expanded to surrounding communities in the Seacoast Region. Candidates shall be determined on the basis of academic merit, demonstrated leadershipability and financial need. This scholarship will be renewed annually, so long as the recipient maintains an acceptable cumulative GPA, until the recipienthas completed his/her undergraduate degree. Established 1990ROBERT L. The recipient will be of Sophomore or Junior status who goes beyond theboundaries of the discipline in pursuing one or more of these areas; environmental issues, writing (especially poetry), women and gender issues, oreducational experience via travel. Established 2000SCOTT DESCOTEAUX SCHOLARSHIP FUND [6TC006]Established in memory of Scott Descoteaux to support grants for scholarships. Awards from income only are based on merit and financial need to worthyPSU business students. Recipient is to be a graduate of Nashua Senior High School, preference given to a student who is a child of a single parent.Established 1979STEVENS-BRISTOW ENDOWED PROFESSORSHIP [6TC104]Established for the purpose of supporting professorships that will celebrate and recognize faculty who “educate the educators”. All faculty in theDepartment of Education and faculty in all other disciplines who are directly involved in teacher preparation are eligible. Established 2007STUDENT AFFAIRS SCHOLASHIP ENDOWMENT [6TC086]Established to support scholarships for returning full-time students who are in good academic standing, show good citizenship, take leadership roles instudent life, volunteer on campus or in the community, display characteristics of personal growth, and have need. Established 2005SWITZER FUND HISTORY PRIZE ENDOWMENT [6TC085]The fund will support two cash awards. The first, the Switzer History Prize, shall be awarded to an outstanding senior history major that has showncontinued academic improvement and achievement during four years at PSU; demonstrated talent for research and writing; participated in co-curricularactivities; and whose special qualities have earned the respect from both professors and peers. The second, the Switzer History Excellence Award, shall beawarded to an outstanding senior who, during at least two years as a history major at PSU has shown consistent academic achievement, demonstrated thequalities and traits of a professional historian, and earned the respect of the history faculty. Additionally, the distribution from the fund will be dividedequally between the two awards. The two awards shall be made at Spring Convocation to a graduation history major selected by a committee of the historyfaculty of the Social Science Dept. chaired by the Coordinator of History. In the absence of the Coordinator, an historian designated by the Dept. Chair willserve as the Committee Chair. The responsibility for selecting the recipient lies with the history discipline via the coordinator. If that is not possible, thechair of the Social Science Dept. will make the selection. Established 2004TREVORROW FUND FOR LIBRARY INTERNS [6TC090]Established to support scholarships for graduate interns who will work with library staff &undergraduate interns to use their expertise in the assessment,conservation, preservation of special collections & archives and to improve access to these artifacts by researchers and the general public. Established 2005TRIMPI ENDOWMENT-PERF STUDY TALENT GR [6TC124]Established to provide financial support for deserving students at PSU who are majors in the Dept. of Music, Theater, and Dance and enrolled inPerformance Studies course- work. TAYLOR MEMORIAL FUND [6TC052]This endowed fund is established to recognize and reward outstanding students majoring in one of the Social Science disciplines through scholarships,awards and other appropriate means. BELVIN SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT [6TC068]Established to provide an annual scholarship for tuition and fees to one undergraduate student enrolled in a full time degree-granting program.Established 2002WIXSON ENDOWED PROFESSOR OF MATH [6TC106]Established to support professorships that will celebrate and recognize faculty in the Dept. of Mathematics who are exemplary faculty models of teaching,scholarship, and service who show strong promise to become such excellent faculty. This will be awarded for a term of three years and will preferpromising faculty members at an early stage of their career who thus can advance their careers more quickly. (Class of 1950 and 1954) and Elizabeth Harrison Thomas (Class of 1927 and 1961) to provide from the fund income financial assistanceto full-time students of KSC who are recognized by the College as residents of the state of NH, at least of junior standing, and who have demonstratedoutstanding promise as teachers and been accepted into the programs of teacher certification of the College. Established 1988ALTA TOWNES MEMORIAL DANCE ENDOWMENT [5TE008]Recipients of this prize shall be selected by representatives of the Department of Theatre Arts, Dance, and Film in consultation with the Office of StudentFinancial Management. SCHOLARSHIP [5TE003]This scholarship is established as a gift of Aubrey Stephen Thomas, Jr., Class of 1962, and his wife, Satako N. Thomas, in recognition of the excellenteducation provided Aubrey while he was a student at KSC. The fund is to provide financial assistance to full-time students who have demonstratedoutstanding promise and who have been accepted into the programs in of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and closely related areas includingprograms of teacher certification in each of these areas. Established 1989CLARKE DISTRIBUTORS SAFETY STUDIES ENDOWMENT [5TD020]Established with gifts from the Clarke family to support the Safety Studies program at KSC. Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to KSCstudents who have attained at least junior status, are majoring in the baccalaureate Safety Studies program, have achieved at least a 2.5 GPA, and have arecorded permanent address in NH. Established 1999CLASS 1990-91 LESSARD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP [5TG003]Established to provide modest financial support to as many KSC students as possible in order to assist with incidental expenses and the purchase ofeducational supplies.
