Established 1986GERTRUDE PHELPS CARLSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND [1TA164]Bequest of Oscar Carlson in memory of his wife. The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarships to UNH students with financial need. The Financial AidOffice shall administer the scholarship. More than one student may be chosen to receive this award each year. The amount of the award should be consistentwith each student’s financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office, and not in excess of such need. It is the donor’s desire that each award besubstantial in size so as to meet as much as possible of a student’s need rather than be minimized into many small awards. Awards may be continued for arecipient for more than one year. Out of state and NH residents shall be considered on an equal basis. Sophomore, juniors and seniors must have a gradepoint of at least 3.2 and freshmen must have graduated within the top 10% of their high school class. Income not utilized for scholarships, as stated aboveshall be given to the UNH Technical Fund. Established 2005GUNNAR B. OLSSON ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP [1TB015]Bequest of Ernestine N. Olsson in memory of her husband. The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarship assistance to worthy undergraduate students atUNH and to provide support for NH 4-H dairy activities. The selection of scholarship recipients and the expenditure of income to support 4-H dairyactivities rests with the Chairman of the Animal & Nutritional Science Department. Scholarships which are awarded will be administered by the FinancialAid Office. Recipients of this scholarship must be enrolled in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture or the Thompson School of Applied Science.Preference will be given to NH residents who are dairy-oriented and who have a strong 4-H background. The criteria for making the award will be on thebasis of demonstrated leadership potential. Financial need is not a consideration. Criteriain making the award are academic achievement in health-related studies as well as intentions to pursue a career in medicine or another health-related field.Financial need is not a condition in making the award but can be considered by the committee, in which case, the Chairman of the Scholarship Committeewill consult with the Financial Aid Office regarding applicants’ need.
