Undergraduate students receiving this awardmay use the funds for any purpose that may support their research. Financial need is not to be a consideration. The recipientwill show a high aptitude for research in Plant Biology. Each applicant for the award will write a short research proposal outlining the goal of the projectand the approach that she/he would follow to obtain his/her results. Income is to be used to provide ascholarship each year for a needy and deserving student who has shown evidence of satisfactory scholarship and exceptional qualities of character andleadership. Established 1952WARREN BROWN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP [1TS002]Established by gifts from family and friends, income to be used for an annual scholarship award to undergraduate students engaged in intercollegiate sportswith preference given to hockey. Financial need is a factor. Recipients will be chosen at the end of the sophomore year, with the award to be given duringthe junior year. Selection will be made by the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Financial Aid Office on the basis of approximation of thequalities that made Warren Brown an outstanding person and an outstanding athlete, and of financial aid. The award will be based on academic achievement and personal leadership.Financial need is not to be considered. The award is renewable in so far as the recipient maintains the equivalent of a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 system.The fund should be used to attract and/or retain the most qualified students and further that preference be given qualified students from Franklin, NH.Recipients will be selected by the awards committee of WSBE and the awards will be administered by the Financial Aid Office. Scholarship awards will be made from income and at least one scholarshipwill be awarded each year to a student majoring in any branch of engineering (chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical, and any branches which may be addedin the future), and at least one to a student who is a member of any of the University bands (presently the UNH Symphonic Wind Ensemble, UNH Band andthe UNH Marching Band). In both cases, the recipient must be at least a sophomore with at least a 2.0GPA. The scholarship shall be awarded on the basis ofneed. For scholarships to band members, preference shall be given to students in any of the University bands who are pursuing music as an avocation, butthe music major who is a member of one of the bands and who shows exceptional talent, industry and participation shall not be excluded.
