At present used to defray expenses<strong>of</strong> Dairy Cattle Judg<strong>in</strong>g Team to participate <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>tercollegiate or other dairy contests. Also to provide a gold medal for that member <strong>of</strong> the senior classwhom the three upper classes choose as giv<strong>in</strong>g the greatest promise <strong>of</strong> becom<strong>in</strong>g a worthy factor <strong>in</strong> the outside world through his character, scholarship,physical qualifications, personal popularity, leadership <strong>and</strong> usefulness as a man among men. Established 1921HOWARD E. MCLANE SCHOLARSHIP FUND [1TA039]Established <strong>in</strong> memory <strong>of</strong> Howard E. McLane <strong>of</strong> Portsmouth, NH, by gifts from family <strong>and</strong> friends. The purpose is to provide one $250 award annually <strong>in</strong>the spr<strong>in</strong>g to an ambitious upper classman with demonstrated f<strong>in</strong>ancial need. Preference will be given to NH residents. Recipients must have at least a 2.5GPA with preference given to students show<strong>in</strong>g superior academic achievement. The award can be cont<strong>in</strong>ued for a recipient for more than one year.Selection will be made by the F<strong>in</strong>ancial Aid Office. Established 1977HOWARD W. COPE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND [1TD003]Gift <strong>in</strong> memory <strong>of</strong> Howard W. Cope, Class <strong>of</strong> 1950. Income to be used to provide scholarship aid to married undergraduate students enrolled <strong>in</strong> the College<strong>of</strong> Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> Physical Science. Such award is to be based on academic achievement, personal leadership, <strong>and</strong> f<strong>in</strong>ancial need. Established 1980HUBBARD FAMILY ENDOWED CHAIR [1TA119]Gift <strong>of</strong> Aust<strong>in</strong>, Leslie <strong>and</strong> Oliver Hubbard to establish a Hubbard Chair <strong>in</strong> the Biological Sciences at UNH. The Hubbard Chair would be filled by a seniorscientist <strong>of</strong> national reputation, preferably a member <strong>of</strong> the National Academy <strong>of</strong> Sciences. This <strong>in</strong>dividual would be an expert, not only <strong>in</strong> a particulardiscipl<strong>in</strong>e with<strong>in</strong> the biological sciences, but would also be expected to contribute broadly to the <strong>in</strong>terdiscipl<strong>in</strong>ary efforts <strong>of</strong> biology. Thus this <strong>in</strong>dividualwould <strong>in</strong>fluence <strong>and</strong> provide <strong>in</strong>tellectual leadership for many departments <strong>and</strong> programs with<strong>in</strong> the biological sciences.
