DBMS Server EnhancementsIncremental RollforwarddbThe incremental rollforwarddb feature allows the journals from a database tobe incrementally applied, as they are generated, to a backup copy of thedatabase.This feature can be used to minimize downtime in the event that the backupdatabase is needed for disaster recovery.For this feature, two new options are added to the rollforwarddb command:• -incremental• -norollbackTo apply journals incrementally1. Start the incremental rollforwarddb by issuing the following command:rollforwarddb dbname +c -j -incremental2. Discover and apply new journals by issuing the following command:rollforwarddb dbname -c +j -norollback -incrementalThe database remains inconsistent and readonly. There may be opentransactions.3. Discover and apply new journals and roll back open transactions by issuingthe following command:rollforwarddb dbname -c +j -rollback -incrementalThe -rollback flag ends the incremental rollforwarddb, and the database ismarked consistent and updatable.For details on the flags, see the rollforwarddb command description in theCommand Reference <strong>Guide</strong>.Improved Exception HandlingException handling in the DBMS Server is improved, resulting in betterresponsiveness when a user interrupts a process, removes a session, or abortsa query using iimonitor.Increased Precision for Decimal Data TypeThe maximum precision for the decimal type is increased from 31 digits to 39digits.
