Supportability EnhancementSupport for IPv6 Networks<strong>Ingres</strong> supports Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) networks. IPv6 providesmore addresses for networked devices and more efficient processing than doesIPv4.Use of IPv6 by <strong>Ingres</strong> is transparent. <strong>Ingres</strong> immediately begins using IPv6,wherever possible, as the network is migrated to IPv6.<strong>Ingres</strong> 2006 Release 2 supports both IPv6 and IPv4 addresses. IPv4 must beused to access versions of <strong>Ingres</strong> prior to <strong>Ingres</strong> 2006 Release 2.For details, see the Connectivity <strong>Guide</strong>.Supportability EnhancementThis release includes enhanced support for debugging database proceduresand for dealing with runtime errors. New trace point QE131 enables the displayof the line number within a procedure at which an error condition is detected.In addition, the HELP PROCEDURE command has been enhanced for userwritten procedures; the procedure text is displayed with line numbers to theleft of the procedure source code.Usability EnhancementsThis release contains the following usability enhancements:• Redesigned installation wizards on Linux and Windows for easierinstallation.• Installation wizard for <strong>Ingres</strong> .NET Data Provider.• Demonstration database that can be created and populated at the end ofthe installation process.
