I s s u e N o . 5 P a g e 6As part of my personal developmentcommunity service project, in termtwo I painted a picture of Uluru forthe children’s ward in SunshineHospital. I used the hospital’scolours which are purple and green. It has been an honour to do apainting for the children’s ward. Before I started I spent a few daysgetting to know all about thehospital. On the first day I went for atour around the hospital and I sawthe cancer ward, the secure GEM’S garden & the hospital’s training centre. The second time, I went to the children’s ward and I studied the play room. Theplay room looked lonely, old, & bare. I felt sad for the children staying there. The last time I went to the hospital, the secure gem staff put on a barbecue tothank the Copperfield students for all their hard work.I would like to thank Ms Alessio, Ms Maric, Kirsten and Rose.By Mark Talavera 1P1Community ProjectAutomotive ProjectCommunity ProjectOn the 14th of September, two year 12VCAL students Dilen Djemal andDanny Mai organised an excursion forthe year 11 and 12 VET Automotiveclasses to Sandown raceway for theV8 Supercars as part of their VCALcommunity project. On arrival at the raceway, we walkedaround in a big group and looked at allthe show cars whilst waiting for thepractice races to begin. This project was completed in the auto centre of CopperfieldCollege on the Delahey campus. We checked the lights, all the water levels, oil level, oil leaks, tyre pressure, tyretread wear, oil leaks from underneath the car and any other safety checksrequired.Out of 5 cars the most common fault we found was not enough oil and fluid inthe engine, worn brakes which could lead to car accidents. We charged the teachers $10 for the car inspection and the money we raised wentto the Ronald Mc Donald Foundation .By Yehya Choayk 2Y2CommunityProjectOn the 16th of October, two year12 VCAL students Samuel Riniti& Ephrem Mahari organised acommunity project that involvedthe students to check over andservice the teachers cars.On the day Samuel and Ephremserviced 4 of the teachers carsunder the supervision of MrAustin.
