U – LED modules, converters and systemsAppendixTRIDONIC guarantee conditionsTridonic stands for high quality products and services.Guarantee for lighting components, managementsystems, LED-modules and -systems exceeds usuallegal guarantee.Tridonic offers a 5-year guarantee on all deviceswith a rated life of at least 50,000 hours of operation.A guarantee of 3 years is offered on devices witha rated life of less than 50,000 hours of operation.Batteries are excluded from this guarantee.1. ProductsThis guarantee applies to all electronic control gearsupplied by Tridonic (electronic ballasts for fluorescentlamps, electronic ballasts for HID lamps, electronictransformers, ignitors, emergency units, convertersfor LED light sources, control units, magnetic ballastsfor fluorescent and HID lamps) as well as LED lightsources.2. Duration of the guaranteeThe guarantee period for Tridonic products is3, 5 or 8 years.2a. Basic guaranteeFor products with a physical rated life of ≥ 50,000hours of operation or more, Tridonic offers a guaranteefor a period of 5 years under the following conditions.To ensure that the product guarantee matches theguarantee offered by the luminare manufacturer, theguarantee is extended by a further 6 months fromthe date of manufacture indicated on the product,up to a maximum of 66 months from the date ofmanufacture.This applies to those products for which a rated lifeof ≥ 50,000 hours of operation is indicated in the datasheets and for all T LED light sources.2b. Limited guaranteeFor products with a physical rated life of less than50,000 hours of operation, Tridonic offers a guaranteefor a period of 3 years under the following conditions.To ensure that the product guarantee matches theguarantee offered by the luminaire manufacturer, theguarantee is extended by a further 6 months from thedate of manufacture indicated on the product, up to amaximum of 42 months from the date of manufacture.This applies to those products for which a rated lifeof < 50,000 hours of operation is indicated in the datasheets, e.g. PC-R and VIPER.2c. Extended guarantee for PC INDUSTRYAn extended guarantee of 8 years is offered onthe PC INDUSTRY series. This guarantee makesallowance for a 6-month period for dispatch, storageand manu-facture. The maximum guarantee periodis therefore 102 months after production.3. Guarantee conditionsThe guarantee offered by Tridonic is valid underthe following conditions:The products from Tridonic must be used in accordancewith the relevant product and applicationspecifications. Limit values for temperatures andvoltages must not be exceeded and the productnot exposed to any mechanical stresses.The guarantee for electronic operating devices appliesonly if the product is installed with lamps that complywith the relevant IEC specifications.The guarantee covers solely product failures causedby material, design or production faults and failurerates that exceed the rated failure rate. The rated lifeand rated failure rate of a device are considered to bethe values defined in the technical documentation.134 www.tridonic.com T Catalogue 2010
U – LED modules, converters and systemsAppendixAdditional conditions for magnetic ballastsof fluorescent lampsIn case of extreme conditions (stuck starter) theincreased temperature on the ballast will lead to areduced lifetime, if failed components are not replacedwithin a short time. The guarantee conditions thereforeonly apply upon use in combination with safety startersor proof of immediate lamp and starter replacement.4. Execution of the guaranteeIn the event of failures exceeding the nominal failurerate, Tridonic on its sole discretion might decideto repair defective components or products, supplyadequate products as replacement or reimburseproducts to original customers. The customers orend customers bear the costs for demounting andremounting as well as for sending in and returningproducts. Any other costs, e.g. replacement costsupon installation, costs caused from failures of theinstallation or other damage and/or consequentialdamage are not covered by this guarantee.The indicated lifetime is achieved by operating lightingcomponents according to the conditions specifiedby the manufacturers, to the relevant internationalstandards and in accordance with local regulations.All electronic products having an expected failure raterequire continuous monitoring, which must be documentedin writing.In view of the statistical failure rate of electronic products,installations with electronic operating devicesand LED light sources require regular maintenance.The products must therefore be easy to access at alltimes. When installing the products, the requirementsof easy maintenance must therefore be taken intoconsideration to keep maintenance costs down.If simplereplacement is not carried out in good time,the end customer must be informed of the additionalcosts that may arise in connection with standardmaintenance. In designing and installing luminaries,it should be remembered that the controller, ballastand/or LED light source may have to be replacedbefore the luminaire comes to the end of its life.Additional Information for LED modulesThe guarantee conditions relate exclusively to mortalitybeyond the nominal failure rate. In view of technicaladvances and the changes in the luminous fluxof products depending on their usage there may bedifferences in the photometric properties betweenreplacement or additional LED modules and the originalproducts.5. Utilisation of the GuaranteeThe guarantee has to be claimed immediatelyby returning the defective product in order to checkthe validity of the claim.6.
