The aluminumis united with the anodized surface to create a hardened, non-porous and non-reactive surface. The anodizing processcauses a natural reaction between the aluminum and the chemicalscalled oxidation, a process which occurs spontaneously in nature.During this process, the product is dipped in a large vat of chemicalsand then electrically charged, resulting in the ultimate combination ofheat conductivity and warp resistance. This reaction creates a hardenedprotective layer that penetrates 0.001" below the original aluminumsurface and builds 0.001" outward from the original aluminum surface.HardCoat ® Cookware ImprovedWarp Resistance0.002"0.002"The HardCoat ® surface slows the expansion rate of aluminum by5 times and increases the melting point by 30%. This combinationprovides superior warp resistance over natural aluminum, evenwhen exposed to higher heat conditions.To test this theory, a natural and a HardCoat ® pan were subjectedto severe heating and cooling conditions. Both pans were testedby heating, on a high flame setting, to a surface temperature of650-700°F and then submerged in cold water at 60-65°F.
