Term-time holidays are a particular contributory factor to non-attendance. Our school’s expectation is that
students only miss school when it is absolutely unavoidable; letters from parents explaining absences due to
sickness should be addressed to the tutor. Should it be absolutely necessary to take your child out of school
during term time, please make your formal written request to Rhian Saadat (r.saadat@laudesanpedro.com)
stating the dates and reason for the absence. Each request will be considered individually, taking into account
the following criteria:
� Personal circumstances of the request
� Age of student
� Overall attendance of student
� The time of year holiday is proposed and whether it impacts on specific curricular or community issues
� The student’s stage of education and general progress.
Approval for any absence can be given by the school for up to ten days in any school year, and is
discretionary. Any leave of absence cannot be granted retrospectively and any absence without permission will
therefore be recorded as unauthorized.
Students absent more than 15% of the school year will progress to the following year at the Head’s discretion.
2.4 Truancy
If you have any suspicion that your son or daughter is not attending school please contact the school
immediately. Promoting school attendance is paramount in ensuring the importance of education.
2.5 Parking
Parents are requested to observe the municipal signs and regulations regarding parking and waiting outside
school. For safety reasons, you must not enter the school bus parking area and or park in double lines outside
the school. Please drive extremely slowly and carefully when in the vicinity of the school.
2.6 Change of Arrangements or Personal Details
It is important for your child’s safety that you inform us of any change in their pick-up or school transport
arrangements. Please inform Reception in plenty of time, either by telephone, in writing or by email.
If there is any change to your address, email or telephone number, please ensure that the office is informed.
It may be necessary to contact you urgently, in the case of illness or injury, so mobile phone numbers and
emergency contact phone numbers should also be made available to the school and be kept updated.
