Together with familiarity of the school’s ethos, we will require all <strong>secondary</strong> students to sign contracts for the<br />
safe and appropriate use of both the Internet and Science facilties.<br />
2.9 School House System<br />
The school has a vertical House system and many interschool activities are planned throughout the year, in<br />
order to involve and cater for as many students as possible (Sports, Maths Day, Red Nose, Enterprise Day,<br />
etc). The four Houses are:<br />
All students are allocated to a House and receive house points for positive contributions to the school, through<br />
their hard work, and participation in a wide range of activities.<br />
The school aims to recognize excellence in all its forms, and to include effort and progress, as well as<br />
persistent brilliance!<br />
2.10 School Charity<br />
As part of the school’s desire to involve students actively in the community, some activities during the year<br />
aim to raise money for charity. Our chosen charities will be announced later in the year.<br />
3.0 SERVICES<br />
3.1 Dining Hall<br />
All students have their lunch cooked freshly on the premises by experienced catering staff. There is one sitting<br />
in the dining hall, for years 7 to 13 from 13.35 to 14.35.<br />
School Lunches consist of three-course nutritious and well-balanced menus. A vegetarian option is available<br />
and students requiring this option must inform the School Nurse at the start of the school year. The monthly<br />
menu appears on our website www.laudesanpedro.com and is updated every month once it has been<br />
approved by the Menu Committee which parents are welcome to attend. Please see dates in the school<br />
calendar.<br />
3.2 Transport<br />
Students using school transport are accompanied by a Monitor provided by the coach company. If you are<br />
interested in using this service, information about routes and timetables is available from the office.<br />
3.3 Books and Materials<br />
Students are provided with all their books and most of the materials they will need. There will be a charge to<br />
replace lost books and school diaries. All textbooks must be returned at the end of the school year or a fee will<br />
be charged.<br />
3.4 Illnesses / Rules and Advice<br />
It is normal that students will, from time to time, contract viral, bacterial or other illnesses. In cases where<br />
the possibility of contagion exists, the affected student must not attend school, for their own sake and for that<br />
of classmates. A doctor’s letter is required.<br />
