How far the trade and financial conditions produced bythe war may prove to be of a temporary nature, or how far theyIn anymay be permanent, cannot be determined at present.case the Act of 1913, passed just before the outbreak of the war,was a very thorough revision of the banking law of the country.As may be learned from the history of the development of theleading features of the Canadian banking system as traced inthis chapter, the present Bank Act embodies the results of acentury of evolution rather than of revolution.
