CHAPTER VI<br />
SCOPE OF WORK AND WORK SPECIFICATION<br />
(Open Trench & HDD)<br />
Specification of work <strong>for</strong> lay<strong>in</strong>g of OF <strong>Cable</strong> <strong>in</strong> PLB HDPE Pipe Coil<br />
underground duct along with its construction & associated <strong>works</strong>.<br />
Section A<br />
1) General: - In order to provide connectivity between telephone exchanges or<br />
otherwise OF <strong>Cable</strong> is required to be laid. The OF <strong>Cable</strong> is usually laid under<br />
ground but may be required to be laid aerially on telephone post especially <strong>in</strong> hilly<br />
area depend<strong>in</strong>g on site conditions.<br />
1.1) The OF <strong>Cable</strong> shall be laid <strong>in</strong> PLB pipe coil duct abbreviated as PLB Pipe<br />
hence<strong>for</strong>th. The PLB pipe shall be of 40 mm & 33 mm outer & <strong>in</strong>ner dia<br />
respectively.<br />
2) SCOPE OF WORK: - The work of lay<strong>in</strong>g of <strong>Optical</strong> <strong>Fibre</strong> <strong>Cable</strong> <strong>in</strong> PLB HDPE Pipe<br />
Coils underground duct along with its construction shall <strong>in</strong>volve follow<strong>in</strong>g activities.<br />
a. Mark<strong>in</strong>g of route on ground where PLB pipe is to be laid underground &<br />
obta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g permission from concerned authorities.<br />
b. Excavation of trench up to specified depth along National/ State Highways/<br />
other roads <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g those <strong>in</strong> city limits<br />
i. Lay<strong>in</strong>g of PLB pipe Coils (without or with PP rope as specified <strong>in</strong> tender<br />
<strong>in</strong><strong>for</strong>mation) coupled by HDPE sockets <strong>in</strong> excavated trenches.<br />
ii. The PLB pipe shall be sealed by end cap at every hand hole/ Jo<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g<br />
Chamber<br />
iii. Fix<strong>in</strong>g of GI pipes/ troughs with clamps at bridges/ culverts and/ or<br />
concret<strong>in</strong>g or chamber<strong>in</strong>g of G.I. Pipes/ troughs, wherever necessary.<br />
iv. Provid<strong>in</strong>g of mechanical protection by D.W.C. Pipes/ GI pipes and/or<br />
concret<strong>in</strong>g/ chamber<strong>in</strong>g accord<strong>in</strong>g to construction specifications,<br />
wherever required.<br />
v. Back fill<strong>in</strong>g and dress<strong>in</strong>g of the excavated trenches.<br />
vi. Lay<strong>in</strong>g of PLB pipe duct through HDD mach<strong>in</strong>e <strong>in</strong> case excavation of<br />
trench is not possible/ wherever necessary.<br />
c. Mak<strong>in</strong>g hand holes/ Jo<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g/ Man hole chambers en route.<br />
d. Blow<strong>in</strong>g of OF cable <strong>in</strong> PLB pipe duct.<br />
e. Pull<strong>in</strong>g of OF cable <strong>in</strong> PLB pipe duct with PP rope with proper tools &<br />
accessories.<br />
f. Splic<strong>in</strong>g/ Jo<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g of OF cable.<br />
g. Lead<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> of OF <strong>Cable</strong> <strong>in</strong> the exchange premises.<br />
h. Supply, fix<strong>in</strong>g & pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g of Route/ Jo<strong>in</strong>t <strong>in</strong>dicators.<br />
i. Documentation.<br />
