• The overall progress has been in accordancewith the WP2010 and Project Plan. • Component design and analyses in support ofthe ITER IO in two areas:••Parametric studies (OPE-093), includingthermo-mechanical analyses for theoptimisation of the FW finger concept;••Design and analyses of the FW panel of M6Modules (OPE-017-01-01-07) under an ITAand to be procured later by F4E.• Second phase of the FW qualification programmeto prepare for their procurement. The callfor tender (OPE-097) for the semi-prototypemanufacturing and the call for proposals (GRT-154) for the related high heat flux (HHF) testingactivities were issued.Divertor ComponentsThe signature of the Inner Vertical Target (IVT) PAwas an important step forward and associatedachievements may be grouped into three areas:• Continuation of the European industry prequalificationactivities on the use of alternativearmour materials grades: awarding of contracts(GRT-036) to complete the characterisation ofan alternative Carbon Fibre Composite (CFC)material and the manufacture of mock-ups withthe above-mentioned CFC armour material (OPE-096).• R&D for the divertor IVT. The activities included theawarding of a contract for the manufacturing of fulltungsten monoblock mock-ups and prototypes(OPE-073). Other activities including the followupof contracts for thermal fatigue testing ofhigh heat flux mock ups and prototypes (GRT-005 and OPE-012) and for the microstructuralcharacterisation of tested armour-heat-sink joints(GRT-025) (Fig. 7).• Start of the activities foreseen in the frame ofthe IVT PA, including the awarding of a contractfor the manufacture of a CFC prototypical batch(OPE-91) and the preparation of a procurementcontract for the manufacture of IVT full sizeprototypes (OPE-138).The WP 2010 was implemented as foreseen withtwo exceptions: the contract for the manufactureof divertor mock-ups was delayed pending thecompletion of negotiations with the supplier aboutIPR issues; the second contract for the full size IVTprototypes was delayed due to design changesproposed by ITER IO after the signature of the PA.Nevertheless, the overall project is in line with theprocurement schedules defined in the Project Plan.Remote HandlingImportant progress has been made to elaborateF4E’s procurement strategy and define technicalareas such as the Remote Handling Control System(architecture, interfaces and standardisation); theroad map for selection and qualification of radiationtolerant components and the design of radiationtolerant multi-purpose electronic boards.
