CHAPTER 5Technical Advisory PanelThe Technical Advisory Panel (TAP) assists theGoverning Board and Director in engineering,scientific and technological matters in particular, theadoption of the Project Plan and Work Programmes.The TAP is composed of 13 members appointed bythe Governing Board (see Annex IV).Chair and Vice-ChairThe Chair and Vice Chair of TAP are Professor MinhQuang Tran and Dr Derek Stork, for their last termending in October 2011.Summary of DiscussionsThe TAP met on four occasions during 2010 (includinga extremely successful meetiwng with the ExecutiveCommittee) and the main activities included:• Taking note of information from F4E, anddiscussing the procurement strategies as outlinedin the Project Plan, with particular emphasis ondiagnostics, heating and current drive systemsand TBMs;• Discussing and endorsing the outcome ofassessments performed by the three ad-hocgroups created on request of the F4E Directorand the Governing Board and composed ofTAP members and external experts, on DEMOactivities, Cold Test strategies for the ITER coilsand ELM suppression and mitigation in ITER;• Providing comments on the draft paper onindustrial policy, intellectual property anddissemination of information;• Providing comments and recommendations on:••Three amendments to the WP 2010;••The 2009 Annual Activity Report;••The Project Plan (Edition 2010);••The WP 2011.The F4E Technical Advisory PanelANNUAL REPORT 2010 FUSION FOR ENERGY75
