Walton, a physician who was the prominentforce in bringing Maury County Hospital, now known as Maury Regional Medical Center,to life.The Walton Legacy Society was established to recognize individuals who have rememberedthe foundation in their estate planning with a financial gift. Mr. Waymon L. Hickman, seniorchairman of First Farmers and Merchants Bank and long-time chairman of the medicalcenter’s board of directors, was the first individual to pledge a deferred gift to the foundation.“I have been associated with Maury Regional for more than 25 years. As a not-for-profitorganization, they are committed to serving the health care needs of all individuals regardlessof their financial resources. When the foundation was established, I knew it would serve toenhance the difference that the medical center makes in the lives of others by assisting thoseless fortunate. By providing a gift through my estate, I will help enable the foundation to assistfuture generations,” said Hickman.—14—
