<strong>Needs</strong><strong>Housing</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Varying</strong> <strong>Needs</strong> <strong>Review</strong>• Assess the current needs and demand and availability of sheltered andvery sheltered housing.• Analyse the outcome of consultation with tenants and incorporate thefindings within the main work of the review.• Establish a sub-group to lead on issues relating to charging policy andallocations policy. (remit to follow)• Establish a sub-group to lead on issues relating to the asset review.(remit to follow)• Prepare a report on the outcome of the review.• Develop an implementation plan <strong>for</strong> its recommendations.The review will not consider in full:• Private sheltered housing stock• RSL sheltered housing stockHowever, the review will take cognisance of the important role that this tenureplays in meeting the overall needs and demand.5. Governance and ManagementThe Head of Service <strong>for</strong> <strong>Housing</strong> and Community Safety will lead the <strong>Review</strong>Group.Sub groups will be established to take <strong>for</strong>ward specific pieces of work. A leadofficer will be appointed who will be responsible <strong>for</strong> providing regular updatesto the <strong>Review</strong> Group.Reports will be submitted to the <strong>Housing</strong> and Environment Committee <strong>for</strong>approval at appropriate intervals.6. Constraints• Difficulty in existing methods <strong>for</strong> assessment of needs at local level, inparticular weaknesses in relation to prevalence rate in<strong>for</strong>mation.• Potential to raise concerns of tenants should the outcome result in achange to current provision, eligibility or charging policy.• Lead in times and resource issues in relation both capital and revenueimplications, which are unknown at the outset of the project.• The review must be complete by summer 201133
