tear to the rear panel. Presentation copy, inscribed on the front flyleaf: “Inscribed for George<br />

A. Zabriskie by Oliver St. John Gogarty.” <strong>The</strong> recipient, a longtime President <strong>of</strong> the New<br />

York Historical Society, was also the author <strong>of</strong> a popular drink-mixing manual, <strong>The</strong> Bon<br />

Vivant’s Companion. Gogarty, himself a noted bon vivant, was the model for “stately, plump<br />

Buck Mulligan” in Joyce’s Ulysses. $125<br />

copies on Chippendale Offset paper, the entire edition. A presentation copy, inscribed by<br />

Goll on the inside front wrapper to Mrs. <strong>Bullock</strong>. Part <strong>of</strong> the series called Poet’s Messages,<br />

produced as a gesture <strong>of</strong> sustenance for poetry and art during wartime. With two copies <strong>of</strong><br />

the original prospectus inserted. $400<br />

<strong>of</strong> wrappers, internally fine and bright. One <strong>of</strong> 600 numbered copies in the regular issue<br />

(there were an additional 40 signed copies on Vélin). This copy bears a presentation<br />

inscription, signed by both Golls with their names intertwined, to Mrs. <strong>Bullock</strong>. Laid in is a<br />

fragment <strong>of</strong> the original mailing envelope with the Golls’ return address in Brooklyn<br />

Heights. $350<br />
