many years <strong>of</strong> friendship and <strong>of</strong> work together for poetry’s sake. Madeline Mason. ‘<strong>Poetry</strong><br />

says it best.’” With a pair <strong>of</strong> autograph letters signed by Mason to Mrs. <strong>Bullock</strong> loosely<br />

edition. 8vo, slate blue cloth stamped in gilt and black. Light rubbing to extremities, faintest<br />

hint <strong>of</strong> darkening to the spine, else a fine, bright copy, in custom slipcase. <strong>The</strong> first issue,<br />

measuring exactly 7/8” across the top. This copy belonged to the poet and reviewer Clement<br />

Wood, whose 1915 ownership signature is on the front flyleaf. In addition, Wood has<br />

annotated the text at various points, noting his likes and dislikes, both in reference to<br />

individual poems and to specific lines and strophes. Wood has pasted a copy <strong>of</strong> his<br />

contemporary review <strong>of</strong> the book for a New York newspaper to the rear endpapers. An<br />

interesting association copy <strong>of</strong> a classic <strong>of</strong> modern American poetry.<br />
