has been inscribed by Lindsay over two preliminary pages, including drawings <strong>of</strong> flowers<br />

55 copies, the entire edition, signed and numbered by Lindsay. Prints the text <strong>of</strong> Lindsay’s<br />

short piece imagining a national street, named for George Washington and spanning the<br />

breadth <strong>of</strong> the United States. Not to be confused with the 1929 clothbound book <strong>of</strong> the same<br />

I have long admired, and whose work has been an inspiration to my son. Hazel Littlefield<br />

Smith.” Portion <strong>of</strong> original prospectus laid in. $50<br />

a bit roughly opened, a touch <strong>of</strong> wear at the crown, some faint small marks and a bit <strong>of</strong><br />

rubbing to cloth covers, generally an attractive copy. $350<br />

Bogue, 1855. First edition. 8vo, original green cloth stamped in gilt and blind. Contemporary<br />

inscription; spine faded, typically; bleached area to rear cover and few minor spots; a bit <strong>of</strong><br />

wear the ends <strong>of</strong> the spine. <strong>The</strong> correct first edition, preceding the American edition by about<br />

a week. With the first issue point on page 96 (“dove” instead <strong>of</strong> “dived”) and the publisher’s<br />

March 1855 catalogue in rear. $500<br />
