T he
fact that Professor
Ngo Bao Chau won the
highest award in mathematics,
Fields medal, has
become not only a great
honour for him and his
family, but also the pride
of the nation. He is the first
Vietnamese mathematician
to have been awarded
with this prize, and
Vietnam has now become
the second nation in Asia after Japan to possess
the medal.
Upon arriving at Noi Bai Airport in his return to
Vietnam to attend a state-level welcome ceremony
with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung,
Professor Chau was presented by Vietnam Airlines
a Platinum Card in the Golden Lotus Program.
Platinum is the GLP highest tier, comparative with
Gold, Titan and Silver cards. The Platinum Card is
issued only after Vietnam Airlines has joined
Presenting GLP Platinum Card to
SkyTeam. At the moment,
Platinum Cards make up
only 1% of the total.
Professor Ngo Bao Chau is
among the firsts to be
handed this Platinum card.

The GLP Platinum Card, equivalent to
SkyTeam's Elite Plus, is Vietnam Airlines' highest
card. Platinum members can enjoy many privileges,
such as booking seats, baggage, access
waiting lounge not only on Vietnam Airlines flights
but also on all SkyTeam airlines flights.
