HANOI - KUNMING ROUTE SUSPENDED,
SHIFTING TO HANOI - CHENGDU NEW ROUTE
Vietnam Airlines has suspended the
Hanoi-Kunming route and plans to
launch the Hanoi-Chengdu air link in
June 2012.
Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan
province in southwest China, some
860 km north of Kunming. Chengdu is
one of the most important economic,
transportation, and communication
centers in western China. According
to the 2007 Public Appraisal for Best
Chinese Cities for Investment,
Chengdu was chosen as one among
the top 10 cities worth the most for investment,
out of a total of 280 urban
centers in China. It was recently
named China's 4th-most livable city
by China Daily.
It is home to many industries and is a
famous manufacturing center for
pharmaceutical research. Chengdu
Hi-Tech Park attracts many high-tech
projects from major brands such as
Intel, Microsoft… and is the headquarters
of Lenovo, a computer manufacturing
company.
Chengdu Shuangliu International
Airport is the sixth largest after those
in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou
and Shenzhen. In 2010, Shuangliu
International Airport handled
25,805,815 passengers to rank the
6th busiest in mainland China and
the 51st in the world.
