HANOI - KUNMING ROUTE SUSPENDED,<br />
SHIFTING TO HANOI - CHENGDU NEW ROUTE<br />
<strong>Vietnam</strong> <strong>Airlines</strong> has suspended the<br />
Hanoi-Kunming route and plans to<br />
launch the Hanoi-Chengdu air link in<br />
June 2012.<br />
Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan<br />
province in southwest China, some<br />
860 km north of Kunming. Chengdu is<br />
one of the most important economic,<br />
transportation, and communication<br />
centers in western China. According<br />
to the 2007 Public Appraisal for Best<br />
Chinese Cities for Investment,<br />
Chengdu was chosen as one among<br />
the top 10 cities worth the most for investment,<br />
out of a total of 280 urban<br />
centers in China. It was recently<br />
named China's 4th-most livable city<br />
by China Daily.<br />
It is home to many industries and is a<br />
famous manufacturing center for<br />
pharmaceutical research. Chengdu<br />
Hi-Tech Park attracts many high-tech<br />
projects from major brands such as<br />
Intel, Microsoft… and is the headquarters<br />
of Lenovo, a computer manufacturing<br />
company.<br />
Chengdu Shuangliu International<br />
Airport is the sixth largest after those<br />
in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou<br />
and Shenzhen. In 2010, Shuangliu<br />
International Airport handled<br />
25,805,815 passengers to rank the<br />
6th busiest in mainland China and<br />
the 51st in the world.<br />
