June 1, 2009 - May 31, 2010<strong>Marian</strong>’s 2009-2010 annual fundraising program was the most successful in <strong>Marian</strong> his<strong>to</strong>ry.Through the dedication of more than 2,400 benefac<strong>to</strong>rs—parents, alumnae, parents ofalumnae, faculty, staff and all members of the <strong>Marian</strong> community— <strong>Marian</strong> raised $461,347 incharitable gifts, the most in <strong>Marian</strong>’s his<strong>to</strong>ry.This year’s contributions were an 11% increase over the previous year and a 3% increaseover the <strong>to</strong>tal goal. <strong>Marian</strong>’s Board of Direc<strong>to</strong>rs, parents, alumnae, and parents of alums allexceeded their goals. <strong>Marian</strong> is incredibly grateful <strong>to</strong> our benefac<strong>to</strong>rs, who year after yearaccept the challenge and answer the call <strong>to</strong> generously support <strong>Marian</strong>.This year also brought new donors and new incentives <strong>to</strong> The <strong>Marian</strong> Fund. Three hundrednew donors shared their treasure, raising the <strong>to</strong>tal donor number <strong>to</strong> 2,456. In addition,an anonymous donor created the Alumnae Leadership Challenge Grant. The goal of theLeadership Challenge was <strong>to</strong> increase the number of alumnae in St. Katharine Drexel GivingCircle ($1,000 <strong>to</strong> $2,499) or higher. The challenge grant matched any new or increased giftmade by an alumna of $1,000 or more. Twenty-two <strong>Marian</strong> alumnae joined the St. KatharineDrexel giving circle by increasing their gift <strong>to</strong> $1,000 or more, resulting in an incredible$44,000 raised through the Alumnae Leadership Challenge Grant alone.The importance of <strong>Marian</strong>’s annual giving program, The <strong>Marian</strong> Fund, is unparalleled. Dollarsraised for this program fund tuition assistance for nearly half of <strong>Marian</strong>’s students, makingthe <strong>Marian</strong> education possible for any young woman. In fact, The <strong>Marian</strong> Fund underwritesall aspects of a <strong>Marian</strong> education. Eight amazing women of the Churchwere chosen <strong>to</strong> represent each different giving level. Just as <strong>Marian</strong> empowers girls <strong>to</strong> succeed as confident, independent, thinking leaders, thewomen of <strong>Marian</strong>’s Giving Circles are examples of leadership in their own rite.
