on UW’s two-semester
European Studies
program will be able to take
a UW master’s degree together
with a Russian state
diploma in European Studies,

Kaliningrad. The interdisciplinary
program, which covers
aspects of economics,
politics, history and law,
offers – in direct contact
with EU institutions – not
only appropriate training for
EU-oriented professions,

In the context of an exhibi-
tion on the life and work of
William Butler Yeats in the
University Library, the Ambassador
of the Republic
of Ireland, H.E. Dr. Daniel
Mulhall, spoke on “W. B.
Yeats: the Romantic and
the Modern”. The exhibition,
organized by Prof. Dr.
Katharina Rennhak and Mr.
Fergal Treanor of the Department
of English and
American Studies, opened
with a recitation of Yeats’
poems by students from
the department. Conceived
by the Irish Embassy in Berlin,
the traveling exhibition
presents the poet’s life and
work in thirteen episodes.

workshop took place
at Rostov State University
of Civil Engineering, in
which students from Germany
and Switzerland joined
Kaliningrad students
to develop a traffic and
transportation concept for
the 2018 FIFA World Cup in
Russia. The workshop was
convened by Prof. Dr. Vladimir
Zyryanov, director of
the Institute of Traffic and
Transportation at Rostov
State University of Civil Engineering,
with which UW
enjoys a longstanding partnership.

in 2010 at Wuppertal’s
Theological College to discuss
questions of textual
transmission, interpretation,
the history of ancient
Judaism, and the Hellenistic
world – the third time an
international conference on
the Septuagint has taken
place in this city. In the
transmission history of
the old Testament the
collection of Greek texts
known since antiquity as
the Septuagint – for the
most part translations of a
no longer extant Hebrew
source – hold a position
of singular importance.
