TENTATIVE ITINERARY FOR NEWFOUNDLAND & LABRADORDAY 1DAY 2DAY 3DAY 4DAY 5DAY 6DAY 7CORNERBROOK. We fly to Deer Lakewith a change of planes enroute. Uponarrival we transfer to our hotel inCornerbrook, Newfoundland's 2nd largestcity and home to the world's largest pulpand paper mill.GROS MORNE NATIONAL PARK /NORTHERN PENINSULA. Today we tourGros Morne National Park with itsdramatically beautiful scenery. Highlightsof the park include Lobster Cove with itslighthouse and fascinating marine display,and the famous Arches carved by thepounding ocean. We then proceed to ourhotel on the Northern Peninsula.L'ANSE AUX MEADOWS / ST.ANTHONY. This morning we visit L'Anseaux Meadows, the fascinating historicsite of the first Viking Settlement in NorthAmerica. Next is the Grenfell Centre,commemorating the life of medicalmissionary Sir Wilfred Grenfell. We thencontinue to our hotel in St. Anthony.LABRADOR. This morning we take theferry from St. Barbe across to Labrador(one and a half hours). Our sightseeing inLabrador includes the Red Bay WhalingStation, the Point Amour Lighthouse andspectacular rugged scenery.GROS MORNE NATIONAL PARK. Weferry back to Newfoundland and return tobeautiful Gros Morne National Park, thistime for a two-night stay.GROS MORNE NATIONAL PARK. Wespend the day in the park and see someof the world's most unique geologicalfeatures (the park is designated as aUNESCO World Heritage Site). Includedis a cruise inside an ancient fjord onWestern Brook Pond (weatherpermitting). Tonight we attend the GrosMorne Theatre Festival for some finelocal entertainment.GRAND <strong>FALL</strong>S. We depart for GrandFalls and visit the Salmonid InterpretationCentre, one of North America's largestfishing projects.DAY 8DAY 9DAY 10DAY 11DAY 12DAY 13TWILLINGATE / GANDER. Our first stopis the Beothuk Interpretation Centre tolearn of the aboriginal people of theisland. We then travel along the Road tothe Isles to the rugged north coast andthe fishing villages on Notre Dame Bay.We continue to Twillingate, one ofNewfoundland's oldest seaports and stilla fishing and sealing town. Here we visitthe Twillingate Museum with its finecollection of antiques, and St. Peter's, theoldest wooden church in the province.CLARENVILLE. We travel though TerraNova Provincial Park and on to thepicturesque historical fishing port ofTrinity. Tonight in Clarenville we enjoy anold fashioned Lobster "Boil Up".ST. JOHN'S. We travel along the island'srugged coastline past the scenic Trinityand Conception Bays. We stop in Heart'sContent to visit the Cable Station beforecontinuing on to St. John's.ST. JOHN'S. St. John's is one of NorthAmerica's oldest settlements. Our citytour includes a visit to Signal Hill with itsstriking view of the city and historic port,and a visit to the local Quidi Vidi Breweryfor a tour of the facility, storytelling and ofcourse a sample of the wares. Afternoonat leisure to explore this friendly,charming city. You may want to stroll inOld St. John's to shop for localhandicrafts.ST. JOHN'S. We embark on anexhilarating marine wildlife adventure toWitless Bay Reserve - home to thousandsof puffins and the best whale watching inNorth America. On the way back to St.John's, we stop at Cape Spear - the mosteasterly point of land in North America.This historic sight was, in WWII, used asa strategic defense position against Nazisubmarines. The rugged scenery here isspectacular.Tonight is our Farewell Dinner featuringlively local entertainment.RETURN. We transfer to the airport forour flight home.9.
