We begin in Argentina and 4 nights inthe capital, Buenos Aires. This cosmopolitancity has wide boulevards, 19th-centurymansions and distinctive French colonialarchitecture. The city has many charmingneighbourhoods, parks, cafes and colourfultraffic-free shopping areas. We will enjoyexcursions within the city and the outlyingareas, including a visit to an estancia (ranch)and a ferry trip across the River Plate to thehistoric old town of Colonia in Uruguay.After our stay in Buenos Aires we fly to thedelightful wine town of Mendoza, one of theprincipal wine-growing regions located inthe foothills of the Andes, for a 3-night stayincluding many excursions.From Mendoza we travel overland to Chile,through the foothills and into a valley thattraverses the Andes - a truly remarkableexperience.
