Enjoy the Gold Rush DAY 7atmosphere of Skagway, home base for thestampeders whose dreams led them to the DAY 8Yukon. Explore the historic district on foot orby streetcar. Consider going on one of theoptional tours, like the SkagwayExtravaganza which includes panning forgold and the rousing Soapy Smith Show, or avisit to The Klondike National Historical Parkwhich commemorates the place where the DAY 9prospectors first arrived, gathered theirsupplies and headed over the White PassRoute to find fortune in the gold fields. Youcan follow their lead aboard the vintageWhite Pass & Yukon Route Railroad (highlyrecommended) or browse the shops andsaloons in town.JUNEAU. Step back in time to the spotwhere Joe Juneau and Dick Harris found"streaks running through the rocks and littlelumps as large as peas or beans." See relicsof the gold mines that brought wealth to thetown even before the Klondike gold rush. Anoptional excursion will be offered to see theamazing Mendenhall Glacier.KETCHIKAN. Southeast Alaska's "first city"is as picturesque as they come. Ketchikan isbuilt on pilings out over the water. Strolldown historic Creek Street to Dolly's House,or venture outside town to see a forest ofhand-carved totem poles. This is also yourgateway to Misty Fjords National Monumentvia floatplane.AT SEA. At this point a day at sea will bemost welcome.VANCOUVER, BC. This morning wedisembark our ship in Vancouver andproceed on a tour of this beautiful city,including Stanley Park, Gastown, Chinatownand more. Dinner and overnight in a centrallylocated hotel.HOME.
