TENTATIVE ITINERARY FOR TANZANIA & ZANZIBARDAY 1DAY 2DAY 3DAY 4DAYS5 & 6DAY 7DAY 8DEPARTURE. We depart for Kilimanjaro,with a change of planes in Amsterdam.KILIMANJARO. We arrive in Kilimanjaroin the evening and transfer to our hotel forour overnight.LAKE MANYARA. We travel to LakeManyara National Park and our lodgeoverlooking the Great Rift Valley and thestunning Manyara Soda Lake. The wall ofthe Rift Valley forms a fantastic backdropto the park and its forest, open grassland,swamp and lake. Wildlife includesbaboons, rhino, impala, giraffe, leopard,water buck and blue and vervet monkeys.The lions here have honed their treeclimbingskills. Manyara is also noted forits wonderful bird life.SERENGETI. Today we drive through theforest of the Ngorongoro ConservationArea and into the seemingly endlessplains of Serengeti National Park,spanning over 14,000 sq. kms. TheNational Park here, considered the finestin Africa, has spectacular concentrationsof migrating game.SERENGETI. We enjoy two days of safariin the Serengeti. Travelling through thisunique conservation area provides aspectacular game-viewing experience. Wetake our game drives in the early morningto catch the animals as they start their dayand again in the evening to spot thenocturnal beasts that are beginning theirprowl.NGORONGORO CRATER. We cross theSerengeti to the World Heritage Site atNgorongoro Crater. Our lodge is perchedatop the uppermost rim of the crater andoffers breathtaking views of the crater floorfar below. The 100 square miles of thiscollapsed volcano is 10 miles across and2,000 feet deep.NGORONGORO CRATER. We descendin to the crater for a full-days game drive.This is the world's largest intact caldera,the floor of which is primarily grasslandwith freshwater ponds, a salt lake andDAY 9DAY 10DAY 11DAY 12DAY 13small forests. It harbours 20,000 largeanimals - a virtual Noah's Ark! Buffalo,wildebeest, zebra and gazelle graze thegrassland while elephants roam thewooded areas and hippos gather in themarshes and ponds. Lions, spottedhyenas and jackals are easy to spot.Resident ostriches, crowned cranes andkori bustards are joined seasonally byother migrating birds.NGORONGORO CRATER. This morningwe enjoy a special Bush Breakfast in thecrater, followed by some more gameviewing. Afternoon at leisure.ARUSHA / ZANZIBAR. We depart forArusha where we will have lunch beforeboarding our plane to Zanzibar. Uponarrival, we transfer to the Bluebay BeachResort and Spa located on the beautifulnorth-east coast.ZANZIBAR. A day at leisure to enjoy ourresort hotel. Take a walk along the pristinewhite sand beach or a dip in the azure seawhere coral reefs offer particularly warmand safe swimming.ZANZIBAR. We have a morning city tourof historic Stone Town and later visit aspice farm for an interesting andeducational tour.ZANZIBAR. A day at leisure. You mayconsider taking an optional Blue SafariFumba boat trip with a beach visit andlunch included. Tonight is our FarewellDinner.DAY 14 ZANZIBAR / DAR ES SALAAM. Atleisure at our resort hotel, with late checkout,until we fly back to mainland Tanzaniato connect with our international flighthome.DAY 15 HOME. We fly home via Amsterdam.77.
