December 19, <strong>2011</strong> (Regular Meeting) Page 887(F-2) BOC - Proclamation - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. DayThe following proclamation designates January 16, 2012 as Dr. MartinLuther King, Jr. Day in <strong>Cabarrus</strong> <strong>County</strong>.UPON MOTION of Commissioner White, seconded by Vice Chairman Burrageand unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following proclamation:PROCLAMATIONProclamation No. <strong>2011</strong>-14WHEREAS, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,Atlanta, Georgia, and devoted his life toracism in America; andwas born on January 15, 1929fighting poverty, inj usticeinandWHEREAS, Dr. King, through his practice of non-violent protest,promoted the importance of love, peace and freedom for humankind andchallenged America to honor its promise of liberty and justice for allcitizens; andWHEREAS, during his lifetime, Dr. King sought to forge the commonground on which individuals of all ages, races and backgrounds could jointogether to address important community issues and provide service to theircommunity; andWHEREAS, the third Monday in January has been established as a nationalholiday to observe the anniversary of Dr. King's birth.NOW THEREFORE, the <strong>Cabarrus</strong> <strong>County</strong> Board of Commissioners herebyproclaims' Monday, January 16, 2012 as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in<strong>Cabarrus</strong> <strong>County</strong> and encourages all citizens to join in the special programsand ceremonies to be held on January 14-16 honoring the life and work of Dr.King and his legacy of peace and equality for all citizens.Adopted this the 19 th day of December, <strong>2011</strong>.Attest:/s/ Kay HoneycuttKay Honeycutt, Clerk to the Board/s/ Elizabeth F. Poole, Chairman<strong>Cabarrus</strong> <strong>County</strong> Board of Commissioners(F-3) BOC - Resolution Establishing the Board of Commissioners' 2012 MeetingSchedule2012.The following resolution establishes the Board I s meeting schedule forUPON MOTION of Commissioner White, seconded by Vice Chairman Burrageand unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following resolution:RESOLUTIONESTABLISHING THE REGULAR MEETING SCHEDULEFOR CALENDAR YEAR 2012Resolution No. <strong>2011</strong>-24WHEREAS, the regular agenda work sessions of the <strong>Cabarrus</strong> <strong>County</strong> Boardof Commissioners are held on the first Monday of each month at 4:00 p.m. inthe Multipurpose Room at the Governmental Center, except in December; andWHEREAS, the regular meetings of the Board of Commissioners are held onthe third Monday of each month at 6: 30 p.m. in the Commissioners' MeetingRoom at the Governmental Center; andWHEREAS, the New Year's Holiday and the Martin Luther King, Jr. holidayrequires a change in the work session and regular meeting dates in January2012; andWHEREAS, the Labor Day holiday requires a change in the agenda worksession meeting date in September 2012; and
