وَقَعًَ‏ سَثُّلَ‏ ؤَالَّ‏ رَعِجُذُواْ‏ إِالَّ‏ إََِّبُٓ‏ وَثِبىْىَاىِذََِِ‏ إِدِسَبّبإٍَِّب ‏َجِيُغََِّ‏ عِْذَكَ‏ اىْنِجَشَ‏ ؤَدَذَُُٕب ؤَوِ‏ مِالََُٕب فَالَ‏رَقُو ىَّهَُب ؤُفٍّ‏ وَالَ‏ رَِْهَشَُِٕب وَقُو ىَّهَُب قَىِالً‏ مَشِميّبAnd your Lord has commanded that you shall not serve (any)but Him, and goodness to your parents. If either or both ofthem reach old age with you, say not to them (so much as)"Ugh" nor chide them, and speak to them a generous word.Qur’an 17:23Allah is telling us to worship none but Him and do ehsaan onour parents.What is Ehsaan?Ehsaan is making sure you give more than you need.You may be the best human being on earth but if you don’tshow mercy towards your parents that goodness is of no use.Then He goes on to say, “If either one of them becomes old,don’t speak “oof” to them. “Don’t chide them or mock themand treat them with respectful kind words.” This means thatdon’t verbalise your differences to them and show theutmost respect.If you don’t respect your parents, the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.)has said: “You will not even smell the fragrance of Janna.”www.qfatima.com Page 29
