Do we get inspired? Maybe.Allah has given us two guides:One is within us, our conscience which actually resonates withthe outside guides who teach us, the Ambiya and Mursaleen.I believe that He sent Prophets, but as I am a Muslim, I believethat the last of these Prophets was Muhammad (S.A.W.). Allthese Prophets wrote the instructions in books called Tawrat,Injeel and Zabur, but I believe in the Qur’an. Qara’a meansread, memorise, understand, apply and teach. Everything wedo comes from the Qur’an. As the Qur’an is a book ofinstructions, we need teachers to explain therefore we havethe life of the Holy Prophet to look at, which we call the Sunnaof Muhammad (S.A.W.)’.Now we have understood our deen, what does it tell us?We need to look at Nahjul Balagha, where the perfect studentof Rasulullah, Imam Ali (A.S.) says that the first thing we needto do about our deen is to understand it. How do we do this?Where do we begin? The first we need to do is understand ourselves:-“One who understands himself/herself understands his/herRabb”. We have got to face the truth and challenge our beliefs. The laws of Allah are like the laws of gravity which neverchange. We have to accept the fact that these beliefs ofAllah cannot change and we need to make adjustmentsaccordingly.Usool-e-deenThe core of Usool is Tawheed, Nabuwwa and Qiyama. Wecannot understand Tawheed without Adala therefore it comessecond. Nabuwwa cannot be undertood without Imamabecause there cannot be an era without a guide on earth.www.qfatima.com Page 52
