Is the reward of goodness anything but goodness?To paraphrase it – “Is the reward for working beauty otherthan the working of beauty?HAMD is neither simply praise nor gratitude.It is a combination of praise and thanks and since Hamd is onlyfor Allah; it incorporates a third concept of worship. Thereforethe word ‘HAMD’ means worshipful and thankful praise.It is a pure internal emotion within the human being whosesource lies in the depths of the nafs.Instances in the Qur’an where Alhamdulillah is used: Suratul Mu’minoon 23:28فَئِرَا اسِزَىََِذَ‏ ؤَّذَ‏ وٍََِ‏ ‏ٍَّعَلَ‏ عَيًَ‏ اىْفُيْلِ‏ فَقُوِ‏اىْذََِذُ‏ ىِئَِّ‏ اىَّزٌِ‏ ‏َّجَّبَّب ٍَِِ اىْقَىًِِ‏ اىظَّبىَِِنيَ‏And when you are firmly seated, you and those with you, inthe ark, say: All praise is due to Allah who delivered usfrom the unjust people: Suratu Ibrahim 14:39اىْذََِذُ‏ ىِئِّ‏ اىَّزٌِ‏ وََٕتَ‏ ىٍِ‏ عَيًَ‏ اىْنِجَشِ‏ إِسَِبعُِوَ‏وَإِسِذَبقَ‏ إَُِّ‏ سَثٍِّ‏ ىَسََُِعُ‏ اىذُّعَبءPraise be to Allah, Who has given me in old age Ismail andIshaq; most surely my Lord is the Hearer of prayerwww.qfatima.com Page 33
