SECTION 3Programming3.1 Programming Data EntryProgramming can be accomplished using the MS-9600 keypad or by connecting anoptional standard computer keyboard. The keyboard can be connected to the PS-2connector J7 on the control panel main circuit board.The information presented in this section refers to programming the MS-9600 via theonboard keypad. 3.2 User Programming!The MS-9600 is completely field programmable and requires no special software skills.While programming the MS-9600, the fire protection capabilities of the control panelare enabled.Site-specific programming may be accomplished in three ways:• Autoprogramming Feature - This is a convenient method for quickly bringingthe FACP addressable SLC devices on-line without the necessity ofprogramming each device individually. Refer to "Autoprogram" on page 87 fora detailed description of Autoprogramming• Manual programming or editing, using the FACP keypad or a PC keyboard• Off-line Programming and Editing Feature - allows creation and editing of sitespecificcustom programs using a Windows-based computer. For programsrequiring a large amount of data entry, this method may be preferred. A PK-9600programming kit can be ordered for this purposeThe System All Normal screen will be displayed in a programmed system with no activealarms, troubles or supervisories, as illustrated below:FIRE-LITE ALARMS INCSYSTEM ALL NORMAL10:00A 010801Programming and Read Status mode can be entered while the panel is in any mode ofoperation. If the panel is in alarm, the alarm condition must be acknowledged beforeentering any other mode. To access any of the programming or read status features, theEnter or Mode key must be pressed, which will cause the LCD to display the following:1=READ STATUS2=PROGRAMMINGSee PagePressing 1, while this screen is being displayed, will cause the control panel to enter theRead Status feature which allows the user to view the programmed features and statusof the control panel The Read Status feature is not password protected. Refer to "ReadStatus" on page 117 for a detailed description of this feature.Pressing 2 will select user Programming which may only be accomplished by anauthorized person. After pressing 2, a screen will prompt for a password. Afterentering the correct password, the user may select from a list of programming options.Exit Programming or Read StatusThe programmer can exit Read Status or Programming mode by repeatedly pressing thekeypad ESC (Escape) key until the display reads System All Normal. Note that thedata which is entered during Programming mode is not saved until the programmerexits this mode by repeatedly pressing the ‘ESC’ key. If the Reset key is pressed orpower is lost before exiting Programming mode, all data which was just entered will belost.
