The module is organised as a written module paper.<br />
In case the number of participants is sufficient, the module can be offered as<br />
a course:<br />
2 contact hours/week lecture,<br />
1 hour/week tutorials or presentations<br />

In the event that the module is offered as a course, the hours are broken<br />
down as follows:<br />
� 30 contact hours<br />
� 30 hours preparation and follow-up work at home, exam preparation<br />
� 90 hours supervised self-directed study<br />
Admission to Master Degree Course in <strong>Wood</strong> <strong>Technology</strong><br />
� knowledge of the relevant standards/norms and ability to interpret<br />
the relevant regulations<br />
� overview of existing building structures<br />
� knowledge of types of damage and damage symptoms, damaging<br />
influences and damage mechanisms for common constructions and<br />
construction materials<br />
� knowledge of inspection methods (destructive and non destructive)<br />
and their application for common constructions and construction<br />
materials<br />
� knowledge of maintenance procedures<br />
� knowledge of the principles and procedures for inspection<br />
� knowledge of repair and reinforcement procedures<br />
� competent choice of the inspection method, interpretation and<br />
assessment of the results<br />
� competent status report and assessment<br />
� ability to recommend and plan measures<br />
This module will give the students the basic methods and procedures for<br />
maintaining buildings. On the basis of the relevant standards/norms and<br />
regulations, the students will learn the methodology and specialities with the<br />
aid of case studies of specific types of construction:<br />
� relevant standards/norms and regulations<br />
� overview of existing building structures<br />
� types of damage and damage symptoms, damaging influences and<br />
damage mechanisms for common constructions and construction<br />
materials<br />
� inspection methods (destructive and non destructive) and their<br />
application<br />
